Maryland trailed for most of the game, but they managed to come through at the right time to earn their second straight conference win. After Wednesday's win against Rutgers the Terrapins move to 4-1 in conference play. Dez Wells scored 17 points with eight rebounds, while both Jake Layman and Jarred Nickens added 12.

Maryland got off to a slow start which put them down 8-0 to start the game. After the Terps took a much needed timeout Melo Trimble became a leader. He first burst to the rim for a layup after the timeout. Trimble then hit a three-pointer to make it a one possession game. Maryland then tied the game after a wide open three-pointer from Dez Wells. The Terrapins would then take the lead after a Michael Cekovsky dunk.

Maryland continued to struggle until the end of the first half, but still led 38-31 after the break. Maryland started off the first half sloppy by commiting seven turnovers, but improved their game towards the end and ended up shooting 46.4 percent (47.1 percent from three) in the first half.

Maryland shot 24 percent from the floor in the second half, but they managed to limit Rutgers to one field goal over the final six minutes.

Rutgers came into the second half running as they scored the first 11 points and had a 57-51 lead with 7:27 left. Rutgers was then up 59-55 before Jared Nickens hit a three-pointer, and Wells made a pair of costless throws and had a layup to put Maryland up 62-59. Nickens then hit another three-pointer to make it 67-63 with 2:14 remaining. Maryland would then go to the costless throw line and secure the victory.

Myles Mack scored 19 points for Rutgers, and Bishop Daniels and Mike Williams each added 12.

"Whatever it takes for us to win, we"ll do. We'll figure it out," coach Mark Turgeon said. "I think that's what i like about this team, because it wasn't looking good. They just said, We're going to guard, we're going to rebound and we'll just make enough shots and costless throws to win this game."
