Connor Halliday's prolific career has come to an end in the worst way possible for the fifth-year senior quarterback.

On Monday, it was announced that Halliday suffered a broken ankle (at the fibula and tibia) on Saturday during Washington State's 44-17 loss to USC.

Halliday has been one of the best college quarterbacks in recent memory, as he has thrown for 11,308 yards, 90 touchdowns and 50 interceptions over his four-year career. This season, Halliday was on pace for 5,749 yards coming into Saturday nights' game against USC. Now, the senior will finish his season with 3,873 yards for 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

For Halliday, it represents more than the end of his season but possibly the end of his football career. On Monday, Halliday tweeted a heartbreaking tweet of what his broken leg may mean for his career.

"@PappaMeighen 22 years of hard work I was 3 god damn games away from my dream 3 freakin games away from being drafted and living my dream" is what Halliday posted on Twitter on Monday.

The Cougars will get a look into the future with freshman Luke Falk stepping in for Halliday. Against USC, Falk went 38 of 57 for 346 yards with 2 touchdowns and one interception. Falk performed solidly against USC given he had no expectations of playing on Saturday. The Cougars (2-7, 1-5) continue their season on Saturday against Oregon State (4-4, 1-4) in Corvallis, Oregon.
