The Louisville Cardinals have named their starting quarterback for Saturday's weekend against Wake Forest. His name is Reggie Bonnafon, a redshirt freshman, who will be making his first career start.

The regular man taking snaps, Will Gardner, suffered a knee injury in the third quarter of last week's win. Head coach Bobby Petrino said that while the redshirt sophomore has "responded well to treatment," he has not been cleared to play Saturday.

Bonnafon can use both his feet and his arm, as he is a classic dual-threat quarterback. He has played a few series against Virginia and finished the game against Murray State. He missed the game against the Florida International Golden Panthers because he was spending time with his family after his fathers unexpected death.

Bonnafon is 14 of 20 for 151 yards with a touchdown. He has also ran for 21 yards and 2 touchdowns on 6 carries in 2014.

"Since the day he got here, he's been very mature, a quick learner, very competitive," said Petrino. "Every time we've put him into the game, he's executed well. He has a little bit of different flavor with the fact that he's very athletic and he can run. It'll be interesting to see how it all goes."

Louisville (3-1, 1-1 ACC) will take on Wake Forrest (2-2, 0-0 ACC) at 3:30 PM ET at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky.
