Oklahoma Sooners running back Joe Mixon has been suspended from the team while he is under investigation for an alleged assault that took place last Friday. He is alleged to have punched a woman in the face causing her to be knocked unconscious for at least 20 seconds.

Oklahoma's athletic department released the following statement via Twitter, "Joe Mixon is not reporting for team activities at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation."

Mixon has not been arrested, nor has he been charged for the alleged incident, but he did meet with police investigators on Tuesday to discuss the altercation.

Mixon, from Oakley, California, was one of the top running backs of the 2014 recruiting class. He ultimately chose Oklahoma over UCLA, Wisconsin, and California.

The Oklahoma Sooners start fall camp for the 2014 season on Thursday. One has to wonder how much Mixon will be affected on the field by missing the start of camp.
