The Knicks are ready to compete next season. New York may not be candidates to make the playoffs but they want to make sure every time a team goes to the Madison Square Garden, it will be a 'blood bath'.
The Knicks have made multiple moves during the offseason, most notably adding Obi Toppin with the 8th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft as well as signing guard Austin Rivers to a one-year deal.
Now, Bobby Marks from ESPN confirmed they have added yet another piece, as Michael Kidd-Gilchrist signed a one-year contract with the organization.

Kidd-Gilchrist gives New York someone who can guard multiple positions. He was one of the better defensive players that was still on the free agent board.
Despite his limited shooting ability, Kidd-Gilchrist is someone who can attack the basket as well as playing solid defense, being able to guard multiple positions.
The No. 2 overall pick in 2012 will be playing for his third organization in the league, following stops at Charlotte and Dallas.
During his seven-year tenure with the Hornets, he averaged 8.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the floor. Kidd-Gilchrist was waived by Charlotte during the trade deadline last season and then picked up by the Mavericks for the rest of the year.
The 6-foot-6 forward joins Alec Burks, Elfrid Payton (who re-signed), Austin Rivers and Nerlens Noel as the latest acquisitions by the Knicks during the free agency.
