The NBA Draft is finally here, and the long-awaited first pick has been revealed. The Minnesota Timberwolves have selected Georgia SG Anthony Edwards with the No. 1 overall pick.

Edwards averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 33 minutes over 32 games as a freshman at the University of Georgia last season. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound guard has drawn multiple comparisons to high-caliber guards like Dwyane Wade and Donovan Mitchell.

“It’s an indescribable feeling,” Edwards said. “I can’t even describe it. So many emotions. My family is emotional. I feel like when I get out of here I’m going to be emotional. It’s beyond measure to be in this situation.”

The shooting guard has been drawing a lot of attention since his high school days at Atlanta’s Holy Spirit Prep. Edwards averaged 25.7 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 3.2 combined blocks and steals per game as a high school senior.

The Timberwolves haven't been able to make the playoffs since 2018, and Edwards is expected to bring them back there alongside D'Angelo Russell and Karl Anthony Towns
