The battle of L.A. is back again on Tuesday night at the STAPLES Center. This time the Clippers are the hosts, looking to sweep the season series against the Los Angeles Lakers for the second time in the past three years.

The two teams met on Sunday evening when the Clippers demolished the Lakers by 28 points. Chris Paul controlled the game with his 15 assists and was toying with the Lakers in third quarter. He made a couple of highlight worthy moves by throwing a pass between the legs of Carlos Boozer and tossing another pass off the backboard for a Blake Griffin dunk.

[Paul] was having some fun at our expense,” Coach Byron Scott said after Sunday’s contest.

Griffin led all scorers with 18 points, five assists, and five rebounds, while his frontcourt buddy DeAndre Jordan posted another double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds to go with four steals. The Lakers defense was non-existent, allowing simple dunks.

Tarik Black, who put in 10 points and nine rebounds, was disappointed at the amount of dunks the team allowed.

Well, you obviously have to stop dunks. Dunks are high percentage shots,” said Black. “Tagging on the bigs and not letting them get to the rim and also stopping CP from getting where he wants,” Black responded when asked what adjustments need to be made in this matchup.

Jordan Clarkson was held to two points on 1 of 6 shooting from the field to go along with four rebounds and three assists. Wesley Johnson was the high man for the Lakers with 16 points.

The Clippers are aiming to climb up higher in the standings, with the third seed in sight. With a win against the Lakers, they will be in a virtual tie with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Clippers have defeated the Lakers six straight times, including 10 of the last 11 overall. The dominance continues with both L.A. teams headed into the opposite directions. The Clippers’ athleticism and Chris Paul’s masterful dribble penetration and pick and roll play has given the Lakers a ton of problems over the last three years.

After this game, the Clippers will have four days off before they play the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday, in a battle for the third spot. For the Lakers, this will be the first of a back to back as they have a game in Denver the next night.

The game tips off at 10:30 pm Eastern Standard Time.
