The Indiana Pacers were granted with the hardship exception due to injuries to various players, and they have now signed A.J. Price to fill in the point guard void they have on their roster, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Originally, the Pacers were going to sign Gal Mekel, who was waived by the Dallas Mavericks over a week ago. However, the Pacers decided not to sign Mekel because he was not going to be ready to play on Friday. Instead, Indiana turned to Price, who will be ready to play by Friday.

Price was on the Cleveland Cavaliers’ training camp roster. He played significantly well for the Cavs and made their opening day roster. Unfortunately, Price was waived by Cleveland on November 2 and cleared waivers two days ago.

A.J. Price started his career in Indiana. He played for the Pacers for three years and made pit stops in Washington and Minnesota thereafter. In his five-year career, he has averaged 5.9 points, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 rebounds.

With C.J. Watson and George Hill both out, Donald Sloan has played heavy minutes, but Price will ease some of the minutes away from Sloan, who is coming off a career-high 31 points in 43 minutes against the Wizards Wednesday night.
