Fancy Bears have released more medical records showing the use of Therapeutic Use Exemptions, with four Olympic champions from Rio 2016 amongst those who have been named.

British cyclist Laura Trott and boxer Nicola Adams, who both won gold in Rio, are named alongside fellow Brits, silver medalists Siobhan-Marie O’Connor and Olivia Carnegie-Brown.

Kimberly Brennan, who won gold in the Women’s Single Sculls, has had her medical data released, alongside fellow Australians Jack Bobridge and Alexander Belonogoff, whilst swimmer Mireia Belmonte Garcia is another of the Rio 2016 champions to be named.

Also named are swimmer Jeanette Ottesen from Denmark, and Germans Laura Siegemund and Julian Justus.

Britain and Australia targeted

Several British sports stars, including Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome, have been targeted in the leak so far, and this continued with four of its Rio 2016 Olympians named today.

Trott, who was born with a collapsed lung and has suffered from asthma her whole life, had a TUE in place for the use of salbutamol and salmeterol from 2009 to 2013 (both drugs can treat the condition) whilst Adams had a TUE in place for the same two drugs, as well as fluticasone propionate from 2007 and 2009; the two-time Olympic champion also had one in place for methylprednisolone in February this year.

Also, O’Connor, who won a silver medal in the 200-meters Individual Medley, has received several TUE’s for prednisolone, as well as one earlier this year for beclomethasone, whilst Women’s Coxed Eight silver-medalist Carnegie-Brown received an exemption for salbutamol and prednisolone in 2009.

Three Australian athletes have also been named. Brennan has had TUE’s for epinephrine (including one at the moment), whilst fellow rower Belonogoff has also had exemptions in place for the same drug. Meanwhile, Bobridge has had several exemptions for prednisolone and one for glucocorticoids, for his arthritis.

Others targeted

Belmonte Garcia, who won gold in the 200-meters Butterfly in Rio, had an exemption for salbutamol in place from 2009 to 2013, whilst Ottesen, who won a swimming relay bronze with her Danish teammates, had one in place for the use of terbutaline earlier this year.
