Jack Swagger made a surprising appearance on SmackDown Live this week, interrupting Baron Corbin after his attack on Apollo Crews. It wasn't an expected move as Swagger was only seen the day before on Raw, where he was drafted, beating beaten by Jinder Mahal.
The storyline reasoning behind his switch was that his contract 'expired' over on Raw and the red brand decided not to re-sign him, therefore SmackDown snatched him as a free agent. Of course, in reality, that is not the case and the real reason the WWE moved Swagger is a simple one, the company didn't believe they had a spot for him on Raw to be of any use and therefore moved him over to SmackDown.
With Alberto Del Rio leaving the company and Shelton Benjamin's injury pushing his return date back there was a real need to add some depth to the blue brand's roster and with the cruiserweights heading to Raw, the flagship show could afford to lose Swagger.
Time for a push
Jack Swagger hasn't been involved in a major storyline for quite some time now, but it is being reported by NoDQ.com that the Real American is set to receive a strong push now he has moved to SmackDown. His first expected rivalry is set to be with Corbin, which is an interesting move as the WWE have kept the Lone Wolf strong since moving him to the main roster at WrestleMania.
Swagger has plenty of potential and is very experienced. The former World Heavyweight and ECW Champion has great in-ring ability, a good look, and good mic skills making him an overall strong performer, hence why WWE have kept him around for so long. Now would be the perfect time to give him a push and save his career just as they have done with Heath Slater and are attempting to do with Bo Dallas.
