It was another good episode of WWE programming last night as Monday Night Raw put on a fun episode that had plenty of stories continuing to build. Yes, there was still some slight issues and filler moments but that should begin to fade away once the cruiserweight division debuts, but back to this week, let's look at the five major talking points.

5. Shining Stars provide another upset

Last week the Shining Stars finally picked up a victory when they shocked the world by defeating Enzo and Big Cass. Most had expected the WWE's typical 50/50 booking to come into play this week with the popular team going over on the travel experts, but that wasn't the case.

For the second week in a row, the Shining Stars surprised both the fans and the former NXT team when they defeated Enzo and Cass again. Whilst there is no doubt who the WWE are putting their trust in the long term, it is great booking as the WWE needs to begin building other teams to eventually challenge for the titles and seeing the Shining Stars used in this way is a big improvement.

4. She's not like most girls

Since the draft, Nia Jax has been built up as a genuine monster that is unstoppable. Whilst she has only faced jobbers up to this point the way she has been booked is smart as she will eventually be a credible threat to whoever is champion at that time. This week she faced Alicia Fox, an opponent who has credibility and is a former champion and yet again Jax walked away looking as dominant as ever.

This could have easily been done with a simple squash match and whilst that did happen it was the way the match ended that really took Jax to the next level. The former NXT star sent Fox crashing through the barricade in what was a very impressive show of strength and isn't something you usually see from the women, which is what made it even better. Jax continues to look like a major dominant force and she will likely continue to do so in the coming weeks.

3. A new feud is born

This week's Raw so the latest Highlight Reel from Chris Jericho where his guest was Sami Zayn. Jericho claimed his original guest was supposed to be Kevin Owens but due to his participation in the main event, he couldn't be his guest, which is why he picked Zayn so he could get to know why he fell out with KO.

The former best friend and current best friend then traded several major blows with Zayn claiming he used to look up to Y2J but stated how he has gone from being a former World Champion to KO's 'Bi**h'. After some great promo work by the Canadian's the segment ended with Jericho smashing Zayn over the head with his phone before hitting him with the Codebreaker in a segment that seemingly saw a brand new feud be born.

Both men needed something to do, Zayn especially, and putting them together in a rivalry is sure to produce some great content in terms of both promo and match quality.

2.Women's wrestling continues its momentum

Monday Night Raw kicked off with a 30 minute long women's segment which is a rarity in the WWE. It was refreshing to see the women be given such a prominent role on the show, especially after the great match at Backlash. After some promo work, a triple threat match was set between Bayley, Sasha Banks and Dana Brooke with the winner earning a shot at Charlotte's Women's Championship.

It was a brilliant match with all three women getting plenty of offense in and was Brooke's best showing since moving to the main roster but ultimately it would be the Legit Boss that won the match by pinning her friend and rival Bayley and the SummerSlam rematch is now set between Charlotte and Banks.

1. Main event chaos costs Roman Reigns

The Big Dog had the chance to enter the Universal Championship match at Clash of Champions if he could beat the Prizefighter, Kevin Owens in the night's main event. In what was an impressive match it would ultimately turn into chaos with two run-ins costing Roman Reigns his chance at a title shot.

Seth Rollins was the first to get involved causing a disqualification victory for KO, but Mick Foley ordered the match to be restarted. However, then Rusev made his return to WWE and his distraction allowed Owens to hit a Pop-Up Powerbomb to defeat Reigns before the United States Champion added insult to injury by beating down his rival.

It would appear that Reigns will now continue his feud with Rusev and likely chase after the United States Championship whilst Rollins and Owens battle for Raw's top prize, but overall it was a good episode of Raw with plenty of build up to Clash of Champions.
