The news that Daniel Bryan had to retire from professional wrestling left the business shocked to its core as one of the greatest talents in the world was being forced to end his career in his prime, leaving everyone with a feeling of 'What if?'

After a brief period away from the company, Bryan made his return to WWE during the brand split and became the new SmackDown general manager to a fantastic ovation, but with his return saw a return of the rumors and speculation amongst fans as to whether or not he would ever wrestle again.

Of course, the rumors really stem from Bryan himself who has made it very clear he doesn't want to retire and that several doctors (not affiliated with WWE) have cleared him to wrestle. But whilst these rumors have been whispered the recent promo by The Miz on Talking Smack has sparked the return of those rumors, only this time, much louder.

Chance of a return

According to reports on NoDQ, a source with insider knowledge has revealed that the WWE hasn't actually ruled out a return for Daniel Bryan to the ring. The fact that he has been cleared by other doctors and remains training and working hard to stay in shape means that there will always be a possibility.

The Miz's promo certainly got people talking on the internet and the feud is already set with the history between both men going all the way back to Bryan's NXT debut. However, if Bryan was to return and wrestle again, the chances are his opponent wouldn't be The Miz as the WWE would likely want to capitalize on that situation more and place him against a bigger name, perhaps against someone he hasn't faced before.

Even though the rumors have returned, it must be noted that the chances of him returning are incredibly slim and the WWE Universe should just accept Bryan in his new on-screen role and just be thankful that Bryan hasn't gone away completely.
