During this weekend's stacked cards under the WWE banner it would be easy to see how a Ring of Honor Pay-Per-View could slip by unnoticed. But a huge event transpired during their most recent event and it will be hard to take away the limelight from the United States based promotion.

Jay Lethal was up until his title defense the reigning ROH World Champion with a highly impressive tally consisting of 427 days and that number was expected to continue.

The performer was the fourth longest holder in the company's history with just Samoa Joe (645), Nigel McGuinness (545) and Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan - 462) a head of him.

His reign however will now not surpass that of the current NXT Champion Joe, but while he may no longer display gold around his waste, his reign will be remembered as one of the most prolific and high profile and he went out like a fighting champion.

A new champion Bay Bay

One of the most highly anticipated bouts of ROH's Pay-Per-View entitled Death before Dishonor featured Adam Cole taking on Jay Lethal for the World Championship in the main event.

The match began with the champion very focused on his opponent with his eyes fixated on The Bullet Club member in what was set to be a brutal brawl for the title.

Early in the match Cole antagonized Lethal and the 31-year-old snapped setting up a table and placing the challenger on top, although The One ducked out of the way but it seemed that The Greatest First Generation Wrestler cut his hand during the landing.

The match continued to go back and forth with no performer using the advantages to their full extent and just when it looked like no man would be walking out victor Cole set a fire in Lethal as he gave the champion the middle finger.

Angered by the gesture the former Total Nonstop Action performer charged his opponent but Cole managed to roll up him for a near fall. A Shining Wizard followed by a Last Shot was enough for a new champion to be crowned, as the wrestling market just gets better and better for The Bullet Club.

Jay Lethal as champion

In life it seemed that some things were going to be a given such as The Undertaker winning on the Grandest Stage of Them All and outside of WWE it seemed Jay Lethal remaining ROH World Champion was in the same breath

While Undertaker lost at WrestleMania 30 to Brock Lesnar, it seems that nothing in wrestling is a certain anymore after all, and after Death before Dishonor that is definitely true.

Lethal held the ROH World Title for 427 days and was constant working the independent circuit defending his title like a true fighting champion.

He was such a fighting champion that he on average he was defending his title every 15-days throughout his reign just second to Daniel Bryan on 12 days and Nigel McGuinness every 14 days.

His title regime began on June 19, 2015 where he defeated Jay Briscoe at Best in the World 2015 and since then he has taken and successfully defended the title in a number of promotions including What Culture Pro Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
