SmackDown Live has for the most part been a fun and new feel show and is currently displaying a much stronger product than its Monday Night rival.

Despite a strong start from the red brand, Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan are currently gaining momentum and are creating more and more interesting storylines.

With that being said what was there to take-away from their most recent show in Bakersfield, California?

Enhancing the Tag-Team division

On Monday Night Raw, there have been a number of 'enhancement' matches used to make Braun Strowman and Nia Jax look strong.

It seems the tactic has extended to SmackDown Live as American Alpha took on an unknown duo in Mike Vega and Mikey O'Shea and finished off the pair in quick and impressive fashion.

The rest of the tag-team division on the blue brand circled the ring for the closer look of the former NXT champions and following their victory moved in to welcome them to the main roster. Following a scuffle between The Vaudevillians, The Hype Bros, The Ascension it would be American Alpha standing alone in the centre of the ring.

Eva is 'Blissing' Becky Lynch off

The 'fabulous' 'stylish' Eva Marie managed to avoid facing Becky Lynch for a second week following a 'wardrobe malfunction'. With The Irish Lasskicker desperate for a fight she made an open call to the locker room and it was Alexa Bliss to take up the offer.

Both women fought fairly but just when it looked like Becky Balboa was closing in on a victory, Marie entered the arena once more distracting the fiery redhead. The distraction gave Bliss an opening which she took and defeated the veteran of the division and gave the recent NXT call up something to boast about.

Alberto Del Rio has never been to Disneyland

Okay well recent photos of The Mexican and Paige may suggest otherwise but Del Rio likened Viperville to theme park and seemed to have regretted his comparison.

Randy Orton squared off against the 39-year-old and brought his a-game but Mexico's Greatest Export through the alphabet out the window.

Sensing an RKO was arriving out of nowhere Del Rio used a tactic known as cheating and hit his opponent with a steel chair, handing the victory to Brock Lesnar's SummerSlam opponent.

Just when it seemed as though the former Lucha Underground man would give The Beast even more of an advantage, an RKO did arrive and left Del Rio unconscious in the middle of the ring.

Won't somebody think of the children?

Rhyno hits Heath Slater with the gore to cost him his SmackDown Live contract (image: youtube, com)

Heath Slater cannot catch a break, just when The Draft was supposed to create opportunities, he is left the only eligible un-drafted performer in the company.

Lucky for him SmackDown Live General Manager Bryan offered him a contract; providing he could defeat the veteran Rhyno.

Slater who pleaded with the former ECW an to go easy on him due to his two, sorry four, sorry eight children was left with a negative response.

Now it seems that the former Social Outcasts member will have to look for other way to put food on the table as he is not going to be a member of the blue brand; especially following his outburst towards Bryan and Shane.

Dean Ambrose returned the favor

Dean Ambrose hit Dolph Ziggler with a Dirty Deeds in revenge (image: youtube.com)

SmackDown kicked off the show with Bray Wyatt talking about the show belongs to him, but in classic Lunatic style Dean Ambrose came out to disagree.

Now sporting a smarter mindset he avoided the opportunity to jump foolishly into the ring with Wyatt and Eric Rowan, but Dolph Ziggler relished the chance.

The Showoff suffered a quick beat down but The WWE World Champion tried to make the save but a miscommunication saw Ziggler hit Ambrose with a superkick before being punished with a Sister Abigail.

Later in the night the two SummerSlam opponents teamed up to take on the two members of The Wyatt Family and although they picked up the win, the former Shield member never forgot his earlier taste of Superkick.

Ambrose delivered a Dirty Deeds to Ziggler and sent a message to the no.1 contender just weeks before their championship match at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
