When the first draft was commissioned in 2002, Triple H was 'non-draftable' as he was the WWE Champion at that time and therefore able to defend the title on both RAW and SmackDown.

Fast forward 14 years later and The Game was once again not drafted, the circumstances have however changed a lot as the 47-year-old no longer holds any gold in the company.

As a backstage employee, he currently works a very, very limited part-time schedule wrestling just the big occasions and it seems his calendar is now even freer.

Reason why he was not drafted

To put it simply, there was very little need currently as with Triple H no longer working anything resembling a full-time schedule having him on the roster would be taking the attention away from the younger up and coming superstars.

The veteran last performed on television at WrestleMania 32 where he lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns and has since made no effort to enquire about a rematch for the belt that now resides in The Ambrose Asylum.

Despite being a main event player for over a decade, The King of Kings was not an eligible draft pick, but the backstage decision to not include him and several others was a creative decision with no storylines yet designed for some superstars.

With HHH a big figure backstage, he is able to pick and choose his storylines and as of yet he has not decided on a WrestleMania opponent but is expected to compete at the event in Orlando next year.

It is believed that rather than an established star, The Cerebral Assassin will be squaring off against a young performer with the veteran likely to take the fall in order to catapult the youngster into the main event scene.

Other stars not drafted

There was only one man that was eligible and was not drafted and that was Heath Slater, but although he was not included in the plans of either RAW or SmackDown Live he is still a familiar face on WWE screens.

The former One Man Band has earned a match to fight for his wrestling future as he goes one-on-one against Rhyno with the victor awarded a contract for the Blue Brand.

Other stars not drafted include Nikki Bella, Luke Harper, and Tyson Kidd all of whom are currently sidelined with an injury with the latter not expected to be cleared to compete again.

The Undertaker and The Rock were also not included, as with the future of The Deadman still up in the air and The Great One breaking all sorts of records in Hollywood, coming to an agreement may have been an expense neither party could afford.
