WWE has over the past year released a number of superstars that have got the internet talking; but it seems one recent release has been kept quiet.

There was outrage and genuine sadness when fan favorite Damien Sandow was shown the door while former tag-team partner Cody Rhodes soon followed him in unexpected fashion.

Now however, it seems as though Joey Styles a fellow long-term employee is no longer with the company according to ProWrestlingSheet.com although there is no mention of his departure by the wrestling promotion.

It may be easy to understand why a talent that has had no maintelevision time and taken a backseat role may have left the company on a silent basis given the hype surrounding the WWE recently.

With the build up to SummerSlam well underway and the recent Draft and Brand Extension, releasing a backstage worker such as Styles is an easy portion of news to miss. The 45-year-old who up until recently attained the title; Vice President Digital Media Content over-saw WWE.com and the company's app, as well as other content.

The circumstances surrounding his departure will be the most shocking and telling as it seems that his opinionative comments got the former Voice of ECW in deep trouble. A few weeks back he participated in a Facebook Live question and answer session during which he addressed Vince McMahon's favoritism towards Roman Reigns as well as not being a fan of the three man commentary team or the new 'Universal' Title.

Styles was famed for calling matches and shows by himself during his commentating years but it seems his opinion has resulted in him losing his job, yet be another example of how petty WWE have become.

At this time it is unknown as to whether the Q&A was the specific reason for his release but the video was quickly removed from YouTube and Facebook following its publication.

WWE releases

If Styles is officially released by the WWE which looks certain to be the case he will join a list of talent that he likely never wanted to be on.

As noted above the company released a number of performers earlier this year with the most high profile including:

Hornswoggle

El Torito

Alex Riley

Zeb Colter

Wade Barrett

Santino Marella

Damien Sandow

More recently WWE officially parted ways with Ryback; the two failed to come to an agreement on a new contract and both simply waited out the remaining months.

The Big Guy recently announced the feedmemore.com website, with expected nutrition help and workouts expected to be included.
