When the two giants were spotted conversing during a recent red carpet event, the wrestling world was buzzing with the prospect of seeing the two square off against each other.

Both men competed in the 2016 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale and took part in an epic stare down that prompted suggestion of seeing the two go one-on-one in the future.

On the match

The Big Show, who is currently away in China promoting WWE's pending show in September, spoke with Shanghai Daily about a number of important issues regarding his career.

The most telling was his plans for the future and on the rumored match with Shaquille O'Neal to which The World's Largest Athlete confirmed were in motion.

On the match he said "We'll have one heck of a match and we'll see what's up. We'll give the fans a treat."

Although the bout is not expected to be a classic it will draw attention, and as celebrity inclusions go, a four time NBA Champion is a great draw for a WrestleMania brawl.

Big Show has also worked against celebrity performers in the past as at WrestleMania XXIV he fought Floyd "Money" Mayweather in a No Disqualification match that the boxer won by knockout.

On retirement

Show has not competed in a WWE ring since July 23 in a live event and when he does it often draws negative chants of "please retire" while this may come as a disappointing representative of the wrestling fanbase, the real question over how long the performer can continue is a real one.

The 7ft athlete who has accomplished much is his career including two World Championships and two WWE Titles is no spring chicken at 44-years-old he is approaching the final chapter in his wrestling story that was first written in 1995.

On his retirement he said "I have had a 21-year career. I am looking forward to retirement actually. It would be nice to actually see my family."

With WWE's well documented hectic schedule some performers spend just one day a week with their family but it seems that Big Show is relishing his lighter schedule and understands he is in the latter stage of his career.

He continued "I've earned my limited schedule and now it's the twilight for me. I get to do media, talk to fans, and tour the world and go out with a nice casual wave goodbye; and I'm happy with that."

On preferring to play a baby face

Whether the former WCW performer is a villain or a hero depends on which week you tune in to the wrestling product as he freely changes very often.

Currently, following his leadership shown in guiding Team U.S.A. to victory over The Multinational Alliance he is firmly a baby face figure and he reveals his reasons in preferring this role.

He said "I get to hug the kids and high-five them on the way to the ring. I love kids. Personally, it's a little bit more fun to be a baby face because I get to interact with the fans in a more positive way."
