The co-main event of SummerSlam Dean Ambrose versus Dolph Ziggler for the WWE World Championship is in no doubt set to be a fantastic match but the repercussions of the bout may have been leaked.

The Showoff may have beaten five other men to earn the right to face the champion of the SmackDown Live The Lunatic Fringe but could the feud of the two be just a smokescreen for a much larger plan?

Looking Style-ish

When the dust settled in the number one contenders match on SmackDown and Ziggler's hand was raised many fans were confused, to say the least.

With other more high profile stars in the six-pack match, it seemed a strange decision to have the 36-year-old pull off what could be seen as a shock exit.

John Cena, AJ Styles, and Bray Wyatt were the favorites in the match-up but it would be The Phenomenal One taking the fall as just one super kick to the head was enough for the former Spirit Squad member to reign victorious.

However, not all is as it seems, the former Total Nonstop Action performer may have been the fall guy but he is soon set to rise to the top.

After Ambrose is done going toe-to-toe with Ziggler there are already plans in motion for the former Shield member to feud with Styles for the title.

Whether the former Bullet Club leader is able to snatch the title from the champion remains to be seen but it seems that as of now, Ziggler is just a transitional contender and nothing more.

Unfinished business

Question marks surrounding why not having Styles with the number one contender's match have already been put forward but there is a method to WWE's madness.

The creative team believed that the 39-year-old had some unfinished business with nemesis John Cena and wanted the two to fight it out one more time before having him move on.

Styles was originally going to win the six-pack match but having him defeat The Face that Runs the Place who is rumored to be leaving to continue with his TV show "True Grit" in their rubber match will present him as a more viable candidate for Ambrose.
