The WWE brand split is now just days away and the speculation regarding call-ups and potential returns is growing, with ECW original, Tommy Dreamer the latest name to have been contacted by the company, according to a report on NoDQ.com.

Dreamer was backstage at the final ever SmackDown taping as he discussed a potential return with the company, but it isn't as simple as most might think. According to the Wrestling Observer, there was a hitch in the deal as Dreamer would be unable to compete at his House of Hardcore events which he runs every few months, something that is an issue for him.

Is Dreamer a good choice?

Whether Dreamer returns or not will have to wait for this coming Tuesday, but is bringing him back a good decision? There is no doubt Dreamer is a popular star, after being the heart and soul of ECW he is a well-liked talent and he is a company man who can be trusted to do whatever job he is asked to do.

It wasn't too long ago that Dreamer was in a WWE ring, with him making a surprise return last year to help former ECW stars, the Dudley Boyz during their feud with the Wyatt Family. It was a fun but short-lived run that saw him compete several times on television shows and PPV and he proved that he can still perform to the level the company would expect.

The WWE is in desperate need to fill both rosters and they want to do so with experienced stars who the fans are already accustomed to and that can teach the younger talent in the company, something Dreamer would be great to do.

But with names such as MVP and Carlito being rumored for returns, could Dreamer be treated in the same way as younger, but still experienced, returning talent's or would he just quickly become a jobber? If that is the case, then the idea to bring him back seems redundant, but there is certainly potential for fun storylines should he come back and with Rhyno recently returning, perhaps we will see Dreamer again as well.
