The Cruiserweight Classic will pit 32 of the world's best cruiserweights against each other in a series of knockout matches with only one man capable of victory, and Gran Metalik is hoping to be that man who will have his hand raised at the end of the competition.

At just 27-years-old but with more than a decade of experience to his name, he may well be one of the favorites to win the entire tournament.

When asked whether he is ready for his anticipated first match, he replied (with the help of a translator) "I am ready, and I am ready to show my talents here at the Cruiserweight Classic."

The performer who goes by the name of Máscara Dorada in his home country will face off against Alejandro Saez of Chile in the opening match of the tournament, in episode one on July 13th.

With Mexico being the home nation of the performer he holds his country close to his heart and will be hoping to do his nation proud. On representing his nation that is also being represented by fellow national Raul Mendoza he said he is 'very excited' at the prospect.

He said, "I am very excited to represent Mexico, I am very excited to have my hand raised against anybody he is put in the ring against."

Metalik seems very keen to defeat any and all opponents in the tournament and as he boasts a number of accomplishments he may well be the victor of the entire competition.

On what he hopes to accomplish in the CWC

With the typical phrase of 'winning' mouthed by every competitor, Metalik opted for a different and more humble view and highlighted just how thankful he is for the opportunity.

He said he wants to "demonstrate" his in-ring ability and his hard work as well as show off his "style" of "aerial assault" and to also "show the world" that he "wants" to be "here."
