The Beast has been a force in WWE since his monumental return to the company back in 2012 when on his first night back he laid John Cena out in the middle of the ring.

However, four years have since passed and his status backstage was rumored to be a confusing one considering his pending involvement with UFC so what is Brock Lesnar's status within WWE?

The status of the beast...

Currently, Lesnar may possibly be one of the sporting world's hottest commodities, with his upcoming fight with Mark Hunt already achieving 'main event' status at his loanee promotion UFC the sporting world is rife with talk of The Beast.

In WWE however, little has been mentioned of how he is backstage and he is still yet to be advertised for any upcoming pay per views or house shows which considering he will be brawling for real come July 9 this makes perfect sense.

It is believed that backstage are holding out on the outcome of the fight before using Lesnar back on television, as depending if he suffers are serious injuries he may be given extended time off to recuperate.

Vince McMahon will have been wary of the situation but feel that it is a gamble worth taking and regardless of the result it makes sense business wise as their relationship with UFC will only strengthen with the company still keen on Ronda Rousey making the switch to WWE inside a squared circle even for a one-off basis with WrestleMania 33 the main goal.

Lesnar was rumored to be advertised for the upcoming July 19 episode of SmackDown - the first time the show goes life and it will also feature The Draft, these rumors however should be disregarded as the source has once before released false information attaining to the 2017 Royal Rumble

Lesnar still a top star

If fans of the 38-year-old needed any reassurances that The Conqueror was no longer regarded as a top star behind the scenes, they should look no further than the cover of WWE 2K17.

The game produced by Yuke's and Visual Concepts will feature the former NCAA Division One Heavyweight Champion on their front cover asserting the status of Lesnar into greater heights.

With The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion on the front and Goldberg also advertised for the game the WWE seems to be teasing the very real possibility of seeing the two men square off very soon.
