Damien Sandow's release was a shocking one when WWE completed their annual Spring cleaning earlier this year but in an interview with current WWE star, Chris Jericho, Sandow revealed more information about his release as well as discussing his favorite match during his time with the company.

Request to leave

Whilst many fans were surprised to hear of Sandow's release due to his popularity with the audience and natural talent and charisma inside the ring, Aaron Stevens (formerly Sandow) wasn't as shocked. The former Money in the Bank winner revealed to Y2J that the decision was "Mutual" and that he had been considering "Taking time off" from the company, bringing the situation to the WWE just a "Month" prior to his release.

Stevens had realized he wasn't being used and decided that it could be a good time to "Explore" other opportunities as there are many "Different directions" he would like to go, something he now has the chance to do. Stevens understood how the business worked in the WWE after being with the company for "A number of years" and admitted that everyone is a part of the many "Different cogs in the wheel."

Whilst Stevens stated that he himself did not understand "Why things are the way they are" he felt that tried to hit a "Grand slam" every time he was in the ring whether he was portraying a stunt double or an "Astronaut" and that is something that shone through to the fans too.

Stevens former tag partner, Cody Rhodes also made the decision to walk away from the company around the time of his release, and it is with Rhodes that Sandow's favorite match took place.

Stevens favorite match happened when he became Mr.Money in the Bank and he was particularly proud of the fact that everyone involved were "Heels" yet they managed to get the crowd invested and interested in what was happening despite not having anyone to cheer for. He admitted that the goal of the match was to make the fans want to see "Cody get the win" which is exactly what happened, making the ending of Sandow stabbing him in the back even greater.

The WWE Universe had been hoping Rhodes would pick up the briefcase until Sandow came in at the last second to steal the match in arguably the biggest victory of his career in a match and a moment that he felt was "So well done."
