After being out of action since November Seth Rollins is once again fit to return to action and with the excitement brewing from the WWE Universe so are the rumors with speculation growing that he could return at this evening's Extreme Rules.

Rumor time

As always in the world of professional wrestling, rumors are nothing new and are common with nearly every PPV that somebody will return or debut with the Finn Balor conversation ongoing constantly, yet it was Rollins himself who fueled this fire with his actions on Twitter.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion tweeted a message that quickly caught fire before being hastily deleted by himself, leaving fans to wonder if it was simply a tease or a warning of things to come, the post read: "The time has come @WWERomanReigns Thanks for keeping my thrown warm.See you tonight."

Clearly Rollins is trying to gain attention and get people talking, but if he was to return then going straight for Roman Reigns would make perfect sense. Rollins was never beaten for his championship and had to vacate the belt through his injury so he has a claim to the belt upon his return and with Reigns the current champion he is the obvious target.

With their history in the Shield and the fact that it was Reigns who Rollins pinned to become the champion at WresteMania 31 then there is plenty of back story for the WWE to work on to make this potential feud very interesting to the fans.

Backstage news

After the tweet was sent out the WWE Universe was on high alert, but the fans hopes were increased when PWInsider confirmed that Seth Rollins is definitely backstage at Extreme Rules and knowing he is fit to return to the ring it is possible that he could appear during the show.

With the constant debate about whether or not he would return as a heel or a face, if he was to return against Reigns it would indicate that the WWE is hoping to have him as a heel, yet the audience reaction would certainly dictate the roles to be reversed. Whether or not he is a heel or face is the last of fans concerns, though, and the WWE Universe will be watching with even more intent during tonight's show now that Rollins could return.
