Another two wrestlers have qualified for the WWE Global Cruiserweight Tournament. TJ Perkins and Drew Gulak, also known as Manik, qualified for the tournament after they picked up wins in their qualifying matches.
Both matches took place at the Evolve 61 iPPV event in New York.
Gulak picked up a win over Tracy Williams while Perkins was able to grab a victory over Fred Yehi. They join a star-studded independent line-up who will get their chance to impress the WWE.
WWE Struggling to fill the tournament?
It was initially reported that the WWE were looking to have 32 competitors in the tournament but are they struggling to fill that quota? Maybe. Only 11 wrestlers have qualified with little being reported on who else may be taking part in a qualifying match. A number of other performers such as Kota Ibushi may be taking part but the WWE are yet to confirm either way.
The WWE could obviously be hiding some names and they could always announce them when they take part or win a qualifying match, but that may be unlikely with the way they have operated so far. Many names were announced by the WWE to draw fans attention so it wouldn’t make sense to change course.
There is also the option that WWE is not bringing in a bigger number of outsider performers and could give some lesser used developmental talent. Manny Andrade, a recent signee who used to go by the name La Sombra, is expected to be involved as he is showcased to the WWE Universe.
Wrestlers who have qualified so far
Gulak and Perkins add to already talented line-up that involves some of the best performers from Europe and Asia. The full line-up includes Tomasso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Zack Sabre jr, Lince Dorado, Ho Ho Lun, Mr 450, Noam Dar, Jack Gallagher, Rich Swann, Akira Tozawa, Drew Gulak and TJ Perkins.
Noam Dar, Zack Sabre jr and Jack Gallagher will represent the best of British wrestling while many fans will be introduced to styles of Mr 450 of Puerto Rico.
Ho Ho Lun is an unknown even to many hardcore fans, he will represent the style of Hong Kong wrestling, a much lesser known style in the world of Professional Wrestling.
