Former United States Champion, Alberto Del Rio is reportedly suffering from a lower back injury, as WWE's injury problem extends further, as Del Rio joins fellow League of Nations member, Sheamus on the shelf.

The Mexican superstar suffered the injury taking a vertical suplex from Brock Lesnar during last weekend's Royal Rumble event, and he was unable to compete in a match on RAW the following night, and didn't turn up to the Smackdown taping due to the injury.

Del Rio is set to be assessed before RAW tomorrow night, and the severity of the situation will be made clearer then, but WWE will certainly be hoping that it isn't a serious issue, as they cannot afford to lose anymore top stars this close to the biggest night of the year for the company.

Not only does WWE need Del Rio for Wrestlemania, but it is believed that the current Fast Lane plans see him in action (once again) against Kalisto for the US title, and with Rusev now the only fully fit member, the League of Nations also need Del Rio's injury to not be too serious.

League of Nations future

The stable has been unsuccessful since it's inception due to poor booking and the fact that every member has now suffered from injuries, but Del Rio has arguably been the most dominant member of the group and without him, the struggle that the group has had will only continue.

With the stable now only having Rusev fit to wrestle, it's very difficult to see how the WWE are going to be able to handle the group, taking them as a serious threat will be almost impossible as they are going to struggle to make an impact with only one man able to fight.

WWE will be left scratching their heads about whether it is worth keeping the group together if Del Rio's injury turns out to be serious, as it would likely only continue not working, but for Del Rio himself, he will also be hoping the situation isn't a serious one as he will want to add one more Wrestlemania moment to his career.
