This is getting ridiculous.

Rickie Fowler fired a final round 68 to win the Deutsche Bank Championship, the second leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. It is his third worldwide victory and his second PGA Tour victory in 2015, and he joins the likes of Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, and Jason Day as players who have won multiple times on the PGA Tour this season.

The new era in golf is not only upon us, but it is wonderful.

Fowler entered the season as one of the most polarizing players on Tour. He finished inside the top 5 in all four majors last season, a rare feat that hadn't been done in nine years (Spieth has since matched it this season). He has become a stable influence on the American Ryder Cup team, and has become a top 10 player in the world.

Still, Fowler entered this season with only one PGA Tour victory, and got the reputation of a good player who could not close. At the beginning of the season, there was a survey done by several PGA Tour players, and they overwhelmingly named Fowler as the most over rated player on the PGA Tour.

A Players Championship and FedEx Cup playoff victory later, and no one is calling Fowler over rated anymore.

"I want to be the best player in the world at some point." Fowler said. "But, yes, being called overrated...thanks for the poll."

Fowler needed a little help. Entering Sunday one shot behind Henrik Stenson, he was looking up at the former FedEx Cup champion all day. Stenson never trailed until the 16th hole, when a wrong club decision caused the ball to come up short on the par 3 and fall in the water. The mistake would lead to a double bogey, and Fowler went from being a shot behind to being a shot ahead. He would not relinquish that lead.

"I obviously pulled the wrong club on 16," Stenson said "and was trying to get the most out of a 7-iron into the wind and ballooned that one a little bit and that was the crucial mistake, making double there was really a killer. I tried to get those two shots back or at least one to force a playoff on the last two holes and couldn't manage to do it."

Fowler now moved to third on the FedEx Cup standings, behind Day and Spieth. Day entered the week looking like the best player, winning the PGA Championship and the Barclays in back to back starts. Day was admittedly exhausted this week, but he still managed to finish T12.

"Done. I'm toast." Day said after the round. "I've been making lot of mental errors out there."

It has been a FedEx Cup playoffs to forget for Jordan Spieth, who has missed his last two cuts. It was the first time in his career that he has missed two cuts in a row. Still, this week was not a total loss. After losing the number one ranking in the world last week to Rory McIlroy, who sat at home resting his ankle, Spieth was able to gain it back this week despite his missed cut. McIlroy finished in a distant T29. He needed a top 10 to keep his number one ranking. The two will continue to battle for the position during the remainder of the FedEx Cup playoffs.

The top 70 in points move on to the BMW Championship. The one who made the biggest move was Hunter Mahan. Mahan has the distinction of playing in every FedEx Cup event since it's creation in 2007. His streak was in serious trouble as he entered this week ranked 91 in points. A T4 finish, however, gives him enough points to move up to 52nd and keep the streak alive for another week. Also making the leap up the points ranking and extending their season are Jerry Kelly, William McGirt, and Keegan Bradley. The 70th ranked player in points is George McNeill, who edges out Alex Cejka

The PGA Tour will have a week off and return for the following week at the BMW Champioship. It is the second to last event of the PGA Tour season.
