The search for a new course for the Grand Slam of Golf is over. The winner?

No one.

The PGA of America announced today that the exhibition event that features the winners of the four major championship would be cancelled in 2015 after they failed to find a suitable course to replace Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles. The PGA decided to move the event after Donald Trump's controversial statements about Mexican immigrants during his campaign announcement.

PGA released a statement that said "Due to the timing and logistics needed to stage the PGA Grand Slam of Golf to the highest standards, we are disappointed that we will not be able to conduct the event this year."

Trump still has three years remaining in his deal, and the PGA has yet to make any decision on whether or not to hold future events at Trump golf courses. The event is takes place in what many call the "silly season", which consists of several golf tournaments that have no effect on PGA Tour standings or World Golf Rankings. In recent years, however, the wrap around schedule on the PGA Tour has provided more meaningful golf tournaments in the fall, and the addition of the WGC-HSBC Champions as an official PGA Tour event has made that tournament very lucrative. Needless to say, while the PGA of America may be upset about the recent news, the event may have run its course.
