The St. Paul Saints and the Gary SouthShore Railcats faced on Sunday afternoon after a eleven inning thriller on Saturday night.

The Railcats scored right away in the first when Roger Bernal led off with a single to left field, and he would score on a JD Pulfer flyout to right field to give Gary a 1-0 lead.

The Saints would score in their half of the first when Steve Nikorak hit a no doubt home run to left field that tied the game at one. Vinny Difazio followed that up with a double that extended his hit streak to 10 games, then Ian Gac hit a home run to right to give the Saints a 3-1 lead.

The Saints added a run in the second inning when Gac drew a walk with one out. After Angelo Songco walked and Mike Kvasnicka flied out for the second out, Joey Paciorek then singled home Gac to extend the Saints lead to 4-1.

The Saints scored again in the fourth inning when Sam Maus hit a leadoff single, then scored all the way from first when Nikorak doubled off the center field wall. He then adavnced to third when Difazio hit a sharp base hit to left field. The scoring chance would end when Ian Gac grounded into a double play to end the inning.

Kvasnicka and Paciorek hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth to extend the lead to 7-1. Paciorek's home run was the fourth of the game, the first time all season the Siants have four home runs in one game as a team.

The Railcats responded in the sixth inning as Tillman Pugh hit a solo homerun to left field to cut the Saints lead to 7-2. The Saints would then respond in the bottom half of the inning when Mitch Elliott hit a leadoff single, then advanced to second on an error by shortstop Ryan Brockett. He would come in to score when Gac hit a sacrifice fly to center field. The Saints were not done yet, as Kvasnicka would ground out to second base, allowing Nikorak to score to make it a seven run Saints lead.

Dustin Crenshaw gave the Saints another quality start, as he went seven innings, only giving up two runs on seven hits, rebounding nicely after the rough first inning. "He just made a mistake out there, but other than that, he did another good job," manager George Tamis said after the game.

Gary scored another run in the eighth inning when Drew Martinez reached base thanks to a Nikorak error. He then scored on a Pulfer double, which cut the Saints lead to 9-3. Mikey Mehlich would then come in and get Michael Vaughn to ground into a fielder's choice to retire Stephen Rogers. That ended the Railcat's chance in the eighth.

The Saints would get no runs in the eighth, while Gary would fail to score in the ninth and the Saints would win 9-3 to win their ninth series of the season. The Saints now remain home to host Sioux City for a three game series. Kramer Sneed will get the start for the Saints in game one. The series will be a matchup of the top two teams in the American Association.
