In the world of combat sports there have been many an athlete that has found success in multiple forms of entertainment and disciplines. From Dan Severn, Mark Coleman to more recently Ken Shamrock, Brock Lesnar, and now of course CM Punk. All have draped the pro wrestling ring while enjoying success in another discipline. One name that needs to be added to that exclusive list is Bobby Lashley. He is currently 2-0 in Bellator and also the World Heavyweight Champion in TNA. It was announced at the end of last week that he has signed a long term extension on Bellator contract. Lashley is one of the bright stars for Bellator and if he could carry both the TNA and Bellator heavyweight champions than that would be something else.

TNA is better product than you realize and if this writer was Dana White a few lunches with Triple H and Vince McMahon would probably be in order. The impact (pun intended) that Lashley could have on the sport if he carried titles across promotion would put him right next to Lesnar and really spark a Monday Night War rivalry between 4 companies! As fans of wrestling and mix martial arts, these are the things we love about the business and Bobby would be a great ambassador for each.

"I've had two fights with Bellator, and I'm happy to be calling the promotion my home," said Lashley. "Scott Coker and the company have really reignited my desire to fight and I'm looking forward to a huge year with some dominant wins."

The American Top Team product was scheduled to be in the previous British Invasion card but had to pull out due to an injury. We should get announcement on when the heavyweight will make his next appearance soon. Don’t forget Bellator returns this weekend as Joe Warren faces Marcos Galvao on Friday, March 27th.
