After the previous two games were both won 3-2, first by the Horned Frogs, and then by the Waves, everyone was hoping for another close game to close the series. The game didn't dissapoint, as instead this game was an exciting one from wire to wire. It is difficult to imagine what could be going through the players minds as this game came down to it's final moments.

Let's start quickly just like the Pepperdine Waves. Third Baseman Brandon Caruso hit a triple to leadoff the game for the Waves in the bottom of the first inning. Centerfielder Aaron Brown hit Caruso home a few batters later for the Waves to start the game with a 1 run lead. TCU quickly responded to the Waves though, battling with 3 straight singles after getting two outs in the top of the 1st, scoring right fielder Dylan Fitzgerald with the last of those singles.

Brandon Caruso decided to put the Waves on his back again, hitting a 2 run Home Run clearing the bases by scoring designated hitter Chris Fornaci. This put the Waves up 3-1 in the bottom of the second. But there were more home runs to be had. In the 5th inning, the Horned Frogs got a home run from first baseman Kevin Cron to cut the lead to 1, but it went right back to 2 when Aaron Brown got his second RBI of the game by launching a solo home run of his own in the bottom of the 5th. That was all of the home runs that would be scored in this game.

The Horned Frogs would not be done though, as shortstop Keaton Jones started off the top of the 6th with a single. He advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and a grounder then he scored on a single by left fielder Boomer White. Kevin Cron came up next and added another RBI to his total, hitting a double to score first baseman Derek Odell. This tied the game up at 4 a piece.

Then everything was scoreless until the bottom of the 8th, when right fielder Bryan Langlois led off the inning with a single, and then Aaron Brown hit a double to put runners on second and third. But the Waves didn't take full advantage of the opportunity, getting only 1 run when Brad Anderson hit a sacrifice fly, and Brown even was able to advance to third, but the final two batters popped up and then struck out.

The Horned Frogs would be quick to respond though, with back to back singles to start the top of the 9th inning. Then Dylan Fitzgerald came up big again for TCU, hitting a double to put the winning run at third and having the RBI on the tying run, scored by second baseman Garrett Crain. Then they had their catcher Kyle Bacak lay down one of the most exciting plays in baseball, the suicide squeeze, scoring Jerrick Suiter to win the game. The Waves came close though, getting the tying run in Jack Ross to third, but they already had two outs and the final one was a strikeout.

TCU is making their second appearance in the College World Series. They almost made it to their championship round, beating Florida State twice, then beat UCLA once but lost to them as the Bruins went to the final round. The Horned Frogs are the 3rd team from the Big 12 to make it to the College World Series, and they will open up with a familiar foe in Texas Tech. They have both beaten each other this year, but unlike most opening round games, the Horned Frogs should be more prepared for their opponent than most in Omaha.
