The Regional tournament format puts four teams in a regional location in a double elimination tournament.  Strange things happen, because it's baseball, and it is difficult to measure baseball in a double elimination tournament instead of a series, but that would take to long for 64 teams to complete, so here's the chaos from the opening weekend of the tournament.

Connor Spencer had another great game, only this time it was against the #1 overall seed Oregon Beavers. He went out with 3 hits, 2 RBI's and 3 runs. Right fielder Kris Paulino had a great 8th inning, starting off with a single and later scoring, and then scored again on his own Grand Slam.

Sunday June 1st

#1 Oregon State Beavers (43-13) 6, #2 UNLV Runnin' Rebels (36-24) 1

Kenny Oakley was going along great through 5 shutout innings for the Rebels and then ended up having difficulty with his defense in the 6th. The Beavers scored 5 unearned runs that half inning and simply held on from there. Even the run scored in the 8th inning was unearned by the Beavers. Ben Wetzler was great for the Beavers on the mound, throwing a complete game, striking out 10, only giving up 1 run, on 4 hits and 3 walks.

The UNLV Runnin' Rebels are eliminated.

#1 Oregon State Beavers (44-13) 4, #3 UC Irvine Anteaters (37-22) 0

Scott Schultz pitched masterfullly in a must win game for the Beavers. He went 9 innings and did not give up any runs, and only allowed 2 hits and 2 walks, striking out 4. The first run scored in the bottom of the first for the Beavers, when 2nd baseman Andy Peterson scored on a double by left fielder Michael Conforto. Designated hitter Gabe Clark had 2 RBI's in the bottom of the 3rd inning, knocking home the last 2 runs in the 3 run 3rd.  Once the Beavers had the lead, they simply never let it go.

Monday June 2nd

#3 UC Irvine Anteaters (38-22) 4, #1 Oregon State Beavers (45-13) 2

The Anteaters completed the upset of the tournament, knocking out the Oregon State Beavers, who were the #1 overall seed. They got their runs in a variety of ways, Paulino tied the game at 1 in the bottom of the 5th by striking out, getting to first on a wild pitch, bunted to 2nd, stole 3rd on a wild pitch, and scoring at home on a ground out. Added two more runs in the bottom of the 6th, they loaded the bases and then Palmer singled home a run, and then Alcantara was hit by a pitch scoring another run. Sparks scored the final run in the bottom of the 7th again with a ground out with the bases loaded. All hail the Anteaters!!

The UC Irvine Anteaters eliminate the Oregon State Beavers to advance to the Super Regionals.

Stillwater, OK--Regional

Friday May 30th

#3 Cal St Fullerton Titans (32-22) 5, #2 Nebraska Cornhuskers (40-19) 1

The Huskers got their only run in the bottom of the 6th when Ryan Boldt had a lead off triple and scored on a ground out. They also took a no-hitter into the top of the 7th, but gave up an unearned run. In the top of the 8th, J.D. Davis hit a grand slam for Cal State Fullerton, which decisively ended the game.

#1 Oklahoma State Cowboys (45-16) 8, #4 Binghamton Bearcats (25-25) 0

Binghamton came all the way down from New York to Stillwater to play one of the nation's top teams. Oklahoma State scored 2 runs in 4 separate innings and shutout the Bearcats. Zach Fish was the only player to have multiple RBI's with 3. Catcher, Bryan Case added a solo Home Run and it was never really close.

Saturday May 31st

#2 Nebraska Cornhuskers (40-20) 8, #4 Binghamton Bearcats (25-26) 6

It looked like the Huskers were goin to be sent home by the Bearcats when they entered the 9th inning down 6 to 5. But they were able to manufacture some runs together with pinch runner Ty Kildow scoring the tying run, 3rd baseman Jake Placzek scoring the winning run, and Ryan Boldt adding an insurance run that the Huskers were happy not to need against those Bearcats.

The Binghamton Bearcats are eliminated.

#1 Oklahoma State Cowboys (46-16) 13, #3 Cal St Fullerton Titans (33-22) 7

1st baseman Tanner Kreitemeier had a fantastic game against the Titans.  He had 2 doubles, 3 hits, 5 RBI's and 1 run. Right fielder Conor Costello hit a Home Run and had 2 RBI's, while 3rd baseman Craig McConaughy had a double, 2 hits, and 3 RBI's as well. The Cowboys put on an offensive clinic, but once they had a lead, they never let it go against the Titans. Also, have to give a shoutout to Brendan McCurry, who pitched the final inning for the Cowboys, and struck out all 3 batters he faced.

Sunday June 1st

#3 Cal St Fullerton Titans (33-23) 4, #2 Nebraska Cornhuskers (41-20) 3

The Nebraska Cornhuskers blew this game in what could be the most improbable fashion ever. Up 1 run in the 7th inning, Aaron Bummer hit catcher Jared Deacon with a pitch to start the inning. Taylor Bryant reached on a fielding error on a sacrifice bunt. Then Tyler Stieb actually had a successful sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to 2nd and 3rd base. Then Keegan Dale reached on a fielding error and scored Jared Deacon. Bob Greco came in to replace Aaron Bummer and promptly balked home the winning run of the game. The Titans simply had the game handed to them by the Cornhuskers.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been eliminated.

#1 Oklahoma State Cowboys (47-16) 6, #3 Cal St Fullerton Titans (34-23) 4

The key moments in this game came when it was tied at 3 in the bottom of the 7th inning. Tim Arawaka came to the plate with the bases loaded and hit a 2 RBI single, scoring both Donnie Walton and Gage Green for the Cowboys. The Cowboys then put in their closer Brendan McCurry for the final two innings and he struck out 3 again, but gave up 2 hits and 1 walk, yet without scoring a run.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys eliminate Cal St Fullerton Titans to advance to the Super Regionals.

Houston, TX--Regional

Friday May 30th

#2 Texas Longhorns (38-18) 8, #3 Texas A&M Aggies (33-24) 1

The Texas Longhorns started the game off with a solo Home Run by 2nd baseman Brooks Marlow and kept the gas running, as they scored 7 runs in the first 3 innings off of opposing pitcher Daniel Mengden.

#1 Rice Owls (41-18) 7, #4 George Mason Patriots (34-20) 2

George Mason actually took the lead in this game in the top of the 8th inning, going up 2-1, but those Rice Owls came back with an additional 6 in the bottom of the 8th to respond. Michael Aquino had the go ahead RBI to put the Owls on the winner's side bracket of their regional.

Saturday May 31st

#3 Texas A&M Aggies (33-25) 7, #4 George Mason Patriots (34-21) 3

The game may have been delayed by weather for over an hour, but the Aggies came right out of the gate scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning. Corey Ray earned the win in relief, giving up 1 earned run over 3 and 2/3 innings. The Aggies kept the lead the entire game, keeping the Patriots at bay, only giving 1 run each in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th inning.

The George Mason Patriots are eliminated.

#2 Texas Longhorns (39-18) 3, #1 Rice Owls (42-18) 2

This game was tied into extra innings. Then Zane Gurwitz hit a clutch leadoff double in a 0-2 count. His teammate Brooks Marlow had a single two pitches later to drive him home and the Longhorns held on. John Curtiss deserves major credit going the final 4 innings of the game in relief and keeping the host team from scoring. He struck out 4, and didn't give up any hits or walks. He was perfect on the mound.

Sunday June 1st

#3 Texas A&M Aggies (34-25) 9, #1 Rice Owls (42-19) 8

Sometimes the strangest things happen in a game. The Aggies had gone down 6 runs to the Owls, and then Cole Lankford hit a grand slam to cap 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. They manufactured 2 additional runs in the bottom of the 8th to take a one run lead into the top of the 9th. Skyler Ewing hit a solo Home Run for the Owls, tying the game up at 7. Hunter Kopycinski hit the RBI to centerfield to score Kirby Taylor in the top of the 10th, meaning the Owls thought they would win this extra inning game. But wait, there's more, Krey Bratsen hit a RBI single scoring Nick Choruby for the Aggies in the bottom of the inning, and wound up scoring the winning run on a wild pitch by Matt Ditman of the Owls.

The Rice Owls are eliminated.

#3 Texas A&M Aggies (35-25) 3, #2 Texas Longhorns (40-18) 2

Tyler Stubblefield deserves a mountain load of credit for the 2nd victory of the day for the Aggies. Beating a rival in a must win game is always huge, but he went all 9 innings, struck out 9, and only gave up 2 earned runs, keeping the Longhorns scoreless for their final 6 innings. Texas had 3 errors, which only helped the Aggies to win the game. Designated hitter Ryne Birk scored the winning run, getting on base with a single, taking 2nd with a balk, advancing to 3rd on a sacrifice fly, and scoring on a RBI single by Nick Banks.

Monday June 2nd

#2 Texas Longhorns (40-19) 4, #3 Texas A&M Aggies (36-25) 1

First Baseman Cole Lankford starting the scoring with a RBI in the top of the 1st, scoring shortstop Blake Allemand for the Aggies. But that was all that Chad Hollingsworth would give up, going 9 innings scattering 5 walks and 2 hits with 3 strikeouts for the Longhorns. Shortstop C.J Hinojosa was hot at the plate getting a hit on every attempt and adding an RBI for good measure. The Longhorns were pleased to eliminate their in state rivals, those A&M Aggies.

The Texas Longhorns eliminate the Texas A&M Aggies to advance to the Super Regionals.

Baton Rouge, LA--Regional

Friday May 30th

#2 Houston Cougars (44-15) 3, #3 Bryant Bulldogs (42-14) 2

Extra baseball is one of the best things that a fan can ask for, and Ashford Fulmer manufactured a run for the Cougars in the bottom of the 10th for the win. First he walked, advanced to 2nd on a bunt, advanced to 3rd on a passed ball, and scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Justin Montemayor.

#1 Louisiana State Tigers (44-14) 8, #4 Southeastern Louisiana Lions (37-23) 4

Those SE Louisiana Lions were up on the Tigers of LSU 5-2 entering the bottom of the 7th. The Tigers got 2 back in the bottom of the 7th in part by help by a fielding error, and then two throwing errors in the bottom of the 8th helped them get the additional 4 runs they needed to take the lead and close out the game.

Saturday May 31st

#4 Southeastern Louisiana Lions (37-24) 2, #3 Bryant Bulldogs (42-15) 1

The Bryant Bulldogs had another low scoring pitcher's duel - the Southeastern Lions. Jameson Fisher scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Sam Roberson in the 10th inning for the Lions to get the win. Craig Schlitter had to be frustrated for the Bulldogs though, going 7 innings with 0 earned runs. Mason Klotz pitched 4 shutout innings in relief to lead the Lions to victory.

The Bryant Bulldogs have been eliminated.

#1 Louisiana State Tigers (45-14) 5, #2 Houston Cougars (45-15) 1

Aaron Nola pitched a beautiful game for the Tigers, going 7 and 1/3 inning, only giving up 1 run, and getting 7 strikeouts. The offense was very balanced for them as well, with designated hitter Sean McMullen going 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. They took the lead when he scored in the 2nd inning, a lead that was tied up in the bottom of the inning but McMullen got his RBI the next inning and scored again to put them up 3 to 1, and the Cougars never scored again.

Sunday June 1st

#2 Houston Cougars (45-16) 9, #4 Southeastern Louisiana Lions (38-24) 5

Houston chased the Lions starter Sean Kennel from the game in the 2nd inning and already had the 7 runs needed to get themselves a win. The Southeastern Louisiana Lions had a ridiculous 6 errors in the game, which is largely the reason that they lost, because all of Kennels runs were unearned. Aaron Garza went 6 innings for the Cougars and was able to spread out 10 hits by the Lions while only giving up 2 runs.

The Southeastern Louisiana Lions have been eliminated.

#2 Houston Cougars (46-16) 5, #1 Louisiana State Tigers (46-14) 4

Houston was down 4 runs going into the top of the 8th inning. They were able to tie it up then though, with the game tying RBI coming from the 1 out single by Caleb Barker. This was another game that would go to extra innings. Josh Vidales scored the winning run after getting on base with a single, advancing to 3rd on a double by Michael Pyeatt, and scoring on a single by Kyle Survance. The Tigers could not even get anyone on base in the bottom of the 11th, going 3 up and 3 down to Cougar pitcher Chase Wellbrock.

Monday June 2nd

#2 Houston Cougars (47-16) 12, #1 Louisiana State Tigers (46-15) 2

The Cougars were able to score 7 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to take a 9 to 2 lead against Louisiana State, and gave Jared Robinson the ball and let him go the final 6 and 1/3 innings of shutout ball, featuring 8 strikeouts while only allowing 4 hits and 1 walk. Probably the worst move of the game for the Tigers was bringing in Brady Domangue in the 3rd inning in relief, because he didn't retire any batters, and gave up 3 earned runs on 4 hits and a walk. The 7 run deficit was just too much in this game.

The Houston Cougars eliminate the Louisiana State Tigers to advance to the Super Regionals.

#4 Georgia Southern Eagles (39-21) 7, #1 Florida State Seminoles (43-15) 0

Georiga Southern scored 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning and never looked back. Sam Howard pitched a complete game shutout against the Seminoles, giving up only 2 hits and 4 walks while striking out 10.

Saturday May 31st

#2 Alabama Crimson Tide (34-23) 6, #1 Florida State Seminoles (43-16) 5

The Crimson Tide took a 6 to 0 lead over the Seminoles in the top of the 7th inning, when catcher Wade Wass hit a 2 run Home Run to left field. Justin Kamplain pitched great for 8 innings, and was pulled right away in the 9th after giving up a single to Seminole first baseman John Nogowski. The Seminoles kept charging though, scoring all 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th, and getting their final out on a fly ball to left centerfield.

The Florida State Seminoles have been eliminated.

#3 Kennesaw State Owls (38-21) 13, #4 Georgia Southern Eagles (40-21) 5

Unfortunately for the Eagles, using Sam Howard in their first game meant he was unavailable for game 2. This game was all tied at 5 going into the 11th inning. The Kennesaw State Owls then exploded for 8 runs in the top of the 11th. Justin McCalvin pitched the final 3 scoreless innings for the Owls, striking out 3 and allowing 0 hits and 0 walks.

Sunday June 1st

#2 Alabama Crimson Tide (35-23) 6, #4 Georgia Southern Eagles (40-22) 0

Georgia Southern could only muster 2 hits the entire game against Geoffrey Bramblett, who pitched a complete game and also only allowed 2 walks, striking out 7. Right fielder Ben Moore was instrumental for the Crimson Tide offense, getting 3 hits, 2 of which were doubles, 1 walk, 1 run, and 3 RBI's. With Florida State already eliminated, this division could be the Tide's for the taking, but they would have to win two times against Kennesaw State to do that.

The Georgia Southern Eagles have been eliminated.

#2 Alabama Crimson Tide (36-23) 4, #3 Kennesaw State Owls (39-21) 1

2nd game in the day, only 1 run allowed on the day. Another pitcher for the Tide going a complete game, this time it was Taylor Guilbeau who struck out 5, but was able to spread out his 6 walks and 5 hits.  It is very tough to only give up 1 run that way. The Owls had a fielding error in the top of the 4th inning, and the Tide scored a run when there could have been a 3rd out. Then left fielder Casey Hughston came up and got a 2 RBI double to give the Tide a 3 run lead which they would not relenquish.

Monday June 2nd

#3 Kennesaw State Owls (39-22) 4, #2 Alabama Crimson Tide (37-23)

The Owls took their 2 win in 3 tries against the Tide in this Regional on Monday afternoon. Left fielder Jacob Bruce led the way with 2 doubles, 1 RBI, and scoring 1 run himself. Travis Bergen came in when the game was tied at 2 and pitched 3 and 1/3 innings to get the Tide to their final two outs. During the 7th inning Bruce had the game winning RBI bringing home Jeremy Howell from 3rd. Howell then got the RBI for the insurance run in the bottom of the 8th scoring Chris McGowan from 3rd. Having a 2 run lead they closed out the game.

The Kennesaw State Owls eliminate the Alabama Crimson Tide to advance to the Super Regionals.

Louisville, KY--Regional

Friday May 30th

#3 Kansas Jayhawks (34-24) 10, #2 Kentucky Wildcats (35-23) 6

This was a great game between Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embiid, and Jabari Parker, wait, wrong sport, sorry guys. The Jayhawks started off in resounding fashion, getting 3 runs in both the first and second inning. But the Wildcats had tied it up by the end of the 4th inning, putting the score at six all. But that's all they would get, as the Jayhawks put runs on the board in both the 7th and 8th inning.

#1 Louisville Cardinals (45-15) 5, #4 Kent State Golden Flashes (36-21) 0

It's difficult to win when you can only manage 5 hits and allow 2 errors across a game. That's what happened to the Golden Flashes in their game against the Cardinals. Louisville put up all 5 runs in the first 3 innings, helped by a 2 RBI single by Corey Ray, who also doubled in the game.

Saturday May 31st

#2 Kentucky Wildcats (35-24) 4, #4 Kent State Golden Flashes (36-22) 2

A.J. Reed pitched the complete game for the Wildcats, giving up 2 runs on 9 hits and 0 walks. He only struck out 3. But the Wildcats had him set up for a loss going into the top of the 9th, because they had scored nothing. First baseman Thomas Bernal hit a 2 RBI double which scored runs 2 and 3 and the Golden Flashes had already gotten two outs. This was very close to going the other way.

The Kent State Golden Flashes have been eliminated.

#1 Louisville Cardinals (46-15) 6, #3 Kansas Jayhawks (35-24) 3

Anthony Kidston came up big on the mound for the Cardinals, going 7 innings and only allowing 2 runs. But he was given a 5 run lead by the 4th inning. The Jayhawks simply did not help their case during this game, having 3 errors in the game. Defense is largely taken for granted in baseball, but if it had been better, the Jayhawks might have had a chance in this game. Corey Ray came up with 3 more hits in this game, 2 more doubles, scoring 1 run.

Sunday June 1st

#2 Kentucky Wildcats (36-24) 8, #3 Kansas Jayhawks (35-25) 6

Kentucky scored the first 8 runs of the game with Max Kuhn having a huge game, with 2 hits, 1 triple, 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Centerfielder Austin Cousino also had a big game, 3 hits, 2 walks, and scored 3 runs. But the Jayhawks were having a rough time anyway, with 3 errors in their defense. Their pitchers had issues as well, getting only 1 strikeout for the entire game.

The Kansas Jayhawks have been eliminated.

#1 Louisville Cardinals (47-15) 4, #2 Kentucky Wildcats (37-24) 1

The Cardinals have the Jayhawks to thank, since they cooled off the Wildcats, not giving up any runs in the final 3 innings. Josh Rogers did an excellent job as well, striking out 5 and allowing 4 hits and 1 run across six innings. Equally impressive is that he did not give up any walks in the game, which shows that he is in control. The relievers also did not give up any hits to the Wildcats. If you don't get on base, then you can't score, which is why the Wildcats got eliminated against their rivals.

The Louisville Cardinals eliminate the Kentucky Wildcats to advance to the Super Regionals.

Nashville, TN--Regional

Friday May 30th

#2 Oregon Ducks (42-18) 18, #3 Clemson Tigers (36-23) 1

No, that is not a typo in the scoring above. The Ducks absolutely crushed the Tigers in Nashville yesterday. Their offense had 4 doubles, 3 triples, 2 Home Runs, all 18 runs were earned. Clemson will try to bounce back in the loser's bracket on Saturday.

#1 Vanderbilt Commodores (41-18) 11, #4 Xavier Musketeers (29-27) 0

Tyler Beede went 8 innings for the Commodores, only giving up 4 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 14 of those Musketeers. The Commodores exploded for 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, putting them up 9-0, and that's when everyone knew the game was over.

Saturday May 31st

#4 Xavier Musketeers (29-28) 6, #3 Clemson Tigers (36-24) 4

The Tigers made 2 critical errors in this game in the bottom of the 7th inning. There was a throwing error on the pitcher on the sacrifice bunt when Xavier was trying to manufacture some runs. Later in the inning, Catcher Daniel Rizzie singled to left but was able to get to 3rd while 2 runs scored because of another throwing error. Then he came home on a wild pitch  to get the 3rd run of the inning. That put them up 6 to 2 and they were able to hold on despite giving up 2 runs in the top of the 8th inning.

The Clemson Tigers have been eliminated.

#1 Vanderbilt Commodores (42-18) 7, #2 Oregon Ducks (43-18) 2

If there was one thing Vanderbilt knew not to do, it was give up 18 runs like Clemson had done yesterday. So they limited the Ducks to just 2 in order to ensure their victory. Carson Fulmer was the master who was pitched that gem, only allowing 3 hits and 2 walks over 8 innings, striking out 5. But the Commodores needed to put some runs on the board too, and they put 5 on the board in the 5th inning. 4 of those runs were unearned because of throwing errors by the Ducks.

Sunday June 1st

#2 Oregon Ducks (43-19) 11, #4 Xavier Musketeers (30-28) 8

The Oregon Ducks got off to a quick lead in this one. Designated Hitter Shaun Chase hit a 2 run Home Run in the top of the first. They added another run in the top of the 3rd on a fielder's choice. The Musketeers were not going to lay down in this game though. After getting 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th, they added 3 more on a Home Run by Jernigan. Catcher Daniel Rizzie knew that the Ducks had some serious fire power, so he added a 3 run Home Run of his own in the bottom of the 7th to give the Muskeeteers a 8 to 3 lead over the Ducks. The Ducks started to chip away at the lead right away with Garlick getting a 3 run Home Run of his own to reduce their deficit to 2. Oregon got the two runs to tie it in the top of the 9th when the Muskeeters had 2 errors. Tolman had a triple in the 10th inning and scored to help them get another 3 run lead, and held on when the Musketeers went 3 up and 3 down in the bottom of the inning.

The Xavier Musketeers have been eliminated.

#1 Vanderbilt Commodores (43-18) 3, #2 Oregon Ducks (44-19) 2

The Ducks knew they had to improve on their previous game against the Commodores in order to have a chance. Stephen Nogosek went 7 innings and only gave up 1 run while striking out 7 to give the Ducks a major advantage on the Commodores field. But there was a pitcher duel with Walker Buehler going 9 innings, striking out 8, and giving up 2 earned runs. Pinch Runner Will Cooper scored the tying run in the bottom of the 8th, and was pulled in the bottom of the 9th for pinch hitter Ro Coleman who got the game winning RBI to end the game in walkoff fashion.

The Vanderbuilt Commodores eliminate the Oregon Ducks to advance to the Super Regionals.

Jack Klein hit a 3 run Home Run in the top of the 6th inning, to put the Cardinal up 5-0 on the Sycamores. Indiana State managed 1 run in the bottom of the same inning, with Jacob Hayes hitting an RBI double. That was the only run given up by Cal Quantrill, who pitched all 9 innings for the complete game.

#1 Indiana Hoosiers (42-13) 10, #4 Youngstown State Penguins (16-36) 2

Indiana chased the opposing pitcher Jared Wright in the 3rd inning after taking a 6-1 lead that they would not relenquish. Kyle Schwarber and Sam Travis both hit Home Runs in front of the home crowd.

Saturday May 31st

#4 Youngstown State Penguins (16-37) 5, #2 Indiana State Sycamores (35-17) 2

The Penguins were able to get their first win ever in the NCAA tournament by beating the Sycamores. Patrick O'Brien was on the mound for them, and split up 8 hits and 3 walks through 6 and 1/3 innings. Despite all the hits he only gave up 2 runs. The Penguins didn't even get an extra base hit in this game, but kept getting hits together in the right innings. They scored them all in innings 2 through 4. Congratulations to the Penguins for their first win.

The Indiana State Sycamores have been eliminated.

#1 Indiana Hoosiers (43-13) 4, #3 Stanford Cardinal (31-23) 2

Hoosier Joey DeNato had a great start for Indiana, going 7 and 1/3, with 4 strikeouts, giving up both runs on 6 hits and 1 walk, striking out 4. Jake Kelzer held the Cardinal scoreless in relief as well. Offensively, first baseman Sam Travis went 3 for 5 from the plate with 2 RBIs, and 2 runs, as well as a solo Home Run.

Sunday June 1st

#3 Stanford Cardinal (31-24) 12, #4 Youngstown State Penguins (17-37) 4

The Cardinal unleashed a fury of runs against the Penguins. The Cardinal scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning and never looked back. During that strecth, they got back to back Home Runs from first baseman Danny Diekroeger and third baseman Alex Blandino. Brett Hanewich got the win for the Cardinal, going 7 innings, giving up 2 runs, 3 hits and 3 walks, striking out 9 Penguin batters. The Penguins just didn't have enough, and really they were fortunate to even have won a game.

The Youngstown State Penguins bave been eliminated.

#3 Stanford Cardinal (32-24) 10, #1 Indiana Hoosiers (44-13) 7

The Cardinal made this one interesting despite getting the win, that is for certain. The Hoosiers got 3 in the bottom of the 1st, and the Cardinal responded with 2 in the top of the 2nd. Indiana added a run each in the 2nd and 4th inning, and Stanford got 2 runs in the top of the 5th inning. Indiana got another run in the bottom of the 7th to give them a 2 run lead. Wayne Taylor hit a pinch hit 3 run Home Run in the top of the 8th to go up 1 for the Cardinal. Alex Blandino, Austin Slater, and Zach Hoffpauir all got back to back to back RBI's for the Cardinal in the top of the 9th. Which was able to hold off the Hoosiers getting another run in the bottom of the 9th.

Monday June 2nd

#3 Stanford Cardinal (33-24) 5, #1 Indiana Hoosiers (44-14) 4

Another thriller between the Cardinal and the Hoosiers. Everything was balanced with a 3 all tie going into the top of the 8th. Will Nolden reached base on what would have been the 3rd out of the inning on a throwing error. Two singles later he scored to give the Hoosiers a 1 run advantage. The Cardinal responded in the bottom of the 9th, Wayne Taylor singled to center, was replaced by pinch runner Drew Jackson, advanced to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt, and then was able to score on a 2 run blast by Tommy Edman. It was a walkoff victory for the Cardinal who were able to eliminate another #1 seed in this tournament.

#2 Long Beach State 49ers (32-24) 6, #3 North Carolina Tarheels (34-25) 1

Andrew Rohrbach went 8 and 1/3 innings for the 49ers to beat the Tarheels, but he was efficient, only throwing 94 pitches. There was nothing fancy at the plate for the 49ers, but they scored 6 in the bottom of the 4th and held the Tarheels scoreless until the 9th. No errors for the 49ers, but it is always funny to see 6 runs on a total of 5 hits in a game.

#4 College of Charleston Cougars (41-17) 3, #1 Florida Gators (40-21) 2

The Cougars started off aggressive against the Gators, their first 4 runners got on base, scoring 3 runs. That was all that they were able to get, since they only had 3 more hits for the other 8 innings. But the Cougars didn't make any errors, used 3 different pitchers, with no pitcher going over 5 innings, just a balanced effort across the board. The Cougars are no doubt pleased to beat the Gators to start the tournament.

Saturday May 31st

#3 North Carolina Tarheels (34-26) 5, #1 Florida Gators (40-22) 2

Just like the Cougars did yesterday, the Tarheels had a hot inning against the Gators, getting 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. They also used 3 pitchers, and they went 3 innings, 4 innings, and then a 2 inning save by Spencer Trayner. The Gators have to be frustrated to head home so soon, since they were one of the top 16 teams in the tournament, and lost back to back games to stay home and look the rest of the Regional.

The Florida Gators have been eliminated.

#4 College of Charleston Cougars (42-17) 6, #2 Long Beach State 49ers (33-24) 3

Bailey Ober pitched a great game for the Cougars, allowing the 3 runs across 7 innings of work, considering he did allow 7 hits and 1 walk. He did only strikeout 3 49ers though. Ben Boykin capped off a 4 run bottom of the 6th by launching a 2 run Home Run which put the Cougars up 5 to 2. Each team added one more run, but didn't really make it closer as this game came to a close.

Monday June 2nd

#2 Long Beach State 49ers (33-25) 12, #3 North Carolina Tarheels (35-26) 5

Much should be said of the work done by 49ers first baseman Ino Patron in this game. 3 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs scored and 5 RBI's, and a Home Run. Third baseman Michael Hill also had a great game with 4 hits, 3 RBI's, 2 runs scored and a Home Run of his own. Ty Provencher pitched the final 2 and 1/3 innings for the 49ers, giving up 0 hits and 0 walks, and adding a strikeout along the way. The 49ers were just too much for the Tarheels in this game.

The North Carolina Tarheels have been eliminated.

#4 College of Charleston Cougars (43-17) 4, #2 Long Beach State 49ers (34-25) 2

Yes, you read that correctly, the Cougars not only won this regional as the 4 seed, but they did it without losing a match. Tyler Thornton pitched a complete game, giving up 2 runs in the first and shutting down the 49ers from there. With 4 strikeouts and giving up just 4 hits and 1 walk. Charleston only had 4 hits, but they were well placed and got 1 unearned run in the game in order to bypass the 49ers to advance.

The College of Charleston Cougars eliminate the Long Beach State 49ers to advance to the Super Regionals.

#2 Texas Tech Red Raiders (40-18) 3, #3 Columbia Lions (29-18) 2

Texas Tech started off the tournament precariously close to a loss to the Lions. They were tied going to the bottom of the 9th when Eric Gutierrez hit an RBI double to score pinch runner Zach Davis. Jonny Drozd pitched 3 and 2/3 in relief and held the Lions scoreless to give the Red Raiders to opportunity to come back in this game.

#1 Miami Hurricanes (41-17) 1, #4 Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (26-31) 0

Another 1 run nail biter in Coral Gables. David Thompson was hit by a pitch with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th. He was able to advance to 3rd base on a fielding error off a single by Brandon Lopez. Then he scored the only run in walkoff style on a wild pitch. It simply doesn't get much crazier than that. Andrew Suarez pitched a complete game for the Hurricanes, giving up 7 hits but with 0 runs and 0 walks, striking out 10 Wildcats.

Saturday May 31st

# 4 Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (26-32) 6, #3 Columbia Lions (29-19) 5

This was a game of taking turns. The Wildcats scored all of their runs in the first 7 innings, while the Lions scored theirs in the final 3 innings. Left fielder Josh Johnson had a Home Run and scored 3 runs in the game, while second baseman Matt Noble had 3 RBI's and a double in the contest. The Lions just didn't have enough juice in the bottom of the 9th, leaving the tying run at first when they recorded the final out.

The Columbia Lions have been eliminated.

#2 Texas Tech Red Raiders (41-18) 3, #1 Miami Hurricanes (42-17) 0

You can't win if you don't score. Dylan Dusek pitched 8 innings for the Red Raiders giving up 4 hits and 1 walk, but didn't give up any runs. The Red Raiders offense was helped as well, when they scored 2 runs in the top of the 2nd, there were two wild pitches by the Hurricanes.

Sunday June 1st

#1 Miami Hurricanes (42-18) 10, # 4 Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (27-32) 0

Bryan Radziewski pitched the complete game shutout for the Hurricanes, striking out 9 and allowing only 3 hits and 2 walks. Meanwhile, Zack Collins, the designated hitter for the Canes, had a 2 Home Run game with 5 RBI's and propelled the Hurricanes to the win over the Wildcats.

The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats have been eliminated.

Monday June 2nd

#1 Miami Hurricanes (43-18) 2, #2 Texas Tech Red Raiders (42-18) 1

Ryan Moseley pitched 6 shutout innings for the Red Raiders, but it bullpen gave up the runs later in the game that caused them to lose. The game was started on June 1st, and picked up in the top of the 8th because of a rain delay. When the game came back the Hurricanes got back to back singles and then David Thompson hit a fielder's choice to the third baseman while Tyler Palmer scored the tying run. The same duo did damage in the top of the 10th to get the victory. This time it was David Thompson with a double and Tyler Palmer had walked onto base and stole second to get in position to score.

#2 Texas Tech Red Raiders (42-19) 4, #1 Miami Hurricanes (44-18) 0

Cameron Smith had the complete game shutout this time for the Red Raiders to finally push past the Hurricanes and move onward in the tournament. Texas Tech got on the board in the top of the 7th getting 2 unearned runs because of an error. They put together a few more singles in the top of the 9th to earn the 4 run edge that was the game's final result.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders eliminate the Miami Hurricanes to advance to the Super Regionals.

#3 Pepperdine Waves (39-16) 3, #2 Arizona State Sun Devils (33-22) 2

Third baseman Austin Davidson was very clutch, his 2 run RBI in the top of the 2nd got the Waves their 2nd and 3rd runs of the game, scoring Hutton Moyer and Aaron Barnett with 2 outs in the inning. Corey Miller was fantastic on the mound as well. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings, struck out 4, and allowed 3 hits and 4 walks for the game.  Right fielder Trevor Allen hit a solo Home Run for the Sun Devils.

#1 Cal Poly Mustangs (45-10) 4, #4 Sacramento State Hornets (39-22) 2

The Mustangs were the heavy favorites in this regional, being the only team with over 40 wins. Matt Imhof went went 7 and 2/3 innings, allowed 5 walks, 3 hits and 2 runs scored, striking out 4. Reed Reilly got the save for the Mustangs going the remaining inning and 1/3. Second baseman Mark Mathias had 2 hits and 2 RBI's leading the Mustangs offensively.

Saturday May 31st

#4 Sacramento State Hornets (39-23) 5, #2 Arizona State Sun Devils (33-23) 4

Those crazy Hornets were able to break open a tie game in the bottom of the 8th inning. They got 2 unearned runs and 3 total runs in the inning. Sacramento State had 4 errors in the game but they were still able to hang on to win the game. Brennan Leitao pitched 7 great innings for the Hornets, giving up 5 hits, 1 walk, and 2 runs, striking out 4.

The Arizona State Sun Devils have been eliminated.

#3 Pepperdine Waves (40-16) 2, #1 Cal Poly Mustangs (46-10) 1

Casey Bloomquist pitched a great game for the Mustangs, but it was definitely in a losing effort. The Waves scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th to take the lead from the Mustangs. Catcher Aaron Barnett hit a triple, was substituted for pinch runner Jeremy Goldenetz, who scored on a double by second baseman Hutton Moyer. Moyer was able to score on a dropped pop up by first baseman John Schuknecht for the Mustangs. That's a rough way to lose a game that could give your team a major advantage.

Sunday June 1st

#1 Cal Poly Mustangs (46-11) 6, #4 Sacramento State Hornets (40-23) 5

The Mustangs were able to score 5 runs in the first 4 innings. John Schuknecht made up for his error in the last game by getting 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Zack Zehner was able to get a solo Home Run as well. But 2nd baseman Mark Mathias got the last run that was needed in the top of the 7th on a single by right fielder Nick Torres. This put them up 6 to 3 and it was all needed since the Hornets added 2 more in the bottom of the 8th inning.

The Sacramento State Hornets have been eliminated.

#3 Pepperdine Waves (41-16) 10, #1 Cal Poly Mustangs (47-11) 6

Pepperdine was up 6 to 3 when the Mustangs came up in the bottom of the 7th when Nick Torres hit a solo Home Run. Peter Van Gansen had a RBI single in the bottom of the 8th scoring Zack Zehner, and John Schuknecht hit an RBI single to score Allen to tie the game at 6. Rightfielder Bryan Langlois hit an 3 RBI triple in the top of the 9th though soon after, and scored on a sacrifice fly by first baseman Brad Anderson to give them the final score. Chandler Blanchard finished the game and kept the lead entact in the bottom of the 9th.

The Pepperdine Waves eliminate the Cal Poly Mustangs to advance to the Super Regionals.

#3 Sam Houston State Bearkats (41-17) 2, #2 Dallas Baptist Patriots (40-19) 1

Tyler Eppler pitched 7 innings for the Bearkats, giving up 1 earned run, on 8 hits and 1 walk, striking out 6. Shortstop Corey Toups was able to score the winning run in the top of the 8th, which handled the game for the Bearkats, starting with an upset of the Patriots.

#1 Texas Christian Horned Frogs (42-15) 2, #4 Siena Saints (26-31) 1

The Horned Frogs didn't think that they would have to go to extra innings with a team that didn't even win half their games during the regular season. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 11th, Cody Jones walked, stole second, and scored on a RBI single by left fielder Boomer White. Brandon Finnegan has to get a mention as well, going 7 and 1/3 innings, striking out 12 Saints batsmen.

Saturday May 31st

#4 Siena Saints (26-32) 9, #2 Dallas Baptist Patriots (40-20) 8

The Saints took another game to extra innings, winning in the bottom of the 10th when Andres Ortiz scored his 2nd run of the game.  He had walked 4 times in the game, so his plate discipline was very helpful for the Saints as they were able to hold off the Patriots to continue in the Loser's Bracket portion of the Regional.

The Dallas Baptist Patriots have been eliminated.

#1 Texas Christian Horned Frogs (43-15) 3, #3 Sam Houston State Bearkats (42-17) 2

This was the marathon game of the tournament thus far. Doubleheaders seem long, but these two teams went 22 innings in the nightcap of the Fort Worth Regional. Despite all the game time, they only combined for 20 hits, so the pitchers were great all evening long. First baseman Boomer White came up large again getting the game winning RBI for the 2nd night in a row.  This time he scored shortstop Keaton Jones to give the Horned Frogs the victory and a little bit more rest after 33 innings in 2 days.

Sunday June 1st

#3 Sam Houston State Bearkats (42-18) 9, #4 Siena Saints (27-32) 2

The Bearkats actually came out of the gate pretty quickly, despite the 22 inning game last night, with 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. They added a few more runs for extra security later on, but the game was never in doubt. Sam Odom and Seth Holbert were the only 2 pitchers in the game for the Bearkats. They only got a total of 3 strikeouts, but giving up only 2 runs is always a good situation to be in, and their offense definitely took care of them today.

The Siena Saints have been eliminated.

#1 Texas Christian Horned Frogs (44-15) 6, #3 Sam Houston State Bearkats (43-18) 1

The Bearkats started the scoring again in this one, with Toups scoring in the top of the 2nd inning, but unfornately for Sam Houston State, that was all they were going to get. Cron doubled and scored for the Horned Frogs in the same inning to immediately tie the game back up. The Frogs just kept tacking runs on, not with a big inning, but slowly and surely they had 4 runs after 6 innings, and added two more in the 8th inning. Tyler Alexander pitched a complete game, striking out 5, giving up 1 run on 6 hits and 1 walk.  The Horned Frogs simply were the most complete team in the tournament, and the Bearkats were simply tired after playing 40 innings in 2 days.

The Texas Christian Horned Frogs eliminate the Sam Houston State Bearkats to advance to the Super Regionals.

Lafayette, LA--Regional

Friday May 30th

#2 Mississippi State Bulldogs (37-22) 5, #3 San Diego State Aztecs (42-19) 2

Left fielder Jake Vickerson helped the Bulldogs get off to a great start in this Regional, getting a bases clearing 3 RBI triple in the bottom of the 2nd inning to give the Bulldogs a 4 to 2 lead over the Aztecs, who have one of the most unique nicknames in collegiate athletics. Brett Pirtle added an insurance run in the bottom of the 5th inning when Alex Detz singled to right. Myles Gentry should be player of the game for the Bulldogs though since he pitched a perfect final 4 innings in relief, despite only getting 1 strikeout.

#4 Jackson State Tigers (31-23) 1, #1 Louisana Lafayette Rajun Cajuns (53-7) 0

The Rajun Cajuns were voted first in the colliegiate baseball rankings before the Regional tournament, and came out and promptly lost to the 4th seeded Tigers, who scored their only run in the top of the 4th inning. Designated hitter Desmond Russell hit a double, and later scored when third baseman Melvin Rodriguez hit an RBI single. Considering the Tigers only had 4 hits, it has to be a minor miracle that they got their only extra base hit during an inning where they got another hit. Vincent Anthonia pitched the first 6 scorleess innings and then Alexander Juday came in for the final 3. They let 12 runners get on base, but they stranded all of them, this game could not have gone much better for the Tigers.

Saturday May 31st

#1 Louisiana Lafayette Rajun Cajuns (53-8) 9, #3 San Diego State Aztecs (42-20) 2

The Rajun Cajuns were not about to be held scoreless again, scoring 5 runs in the first two innings, getting 3 of them off of a Home Run by Catcher Michael Strentz. This would only be the beginning of the runs that the Cajuns would produce, as they were determined to light up the scoreboard in every game left in their home field. Carson Baranik only gave up 2 runs and the Cajuns easily handled the Aztecs to play another day.

The San Diego State Aztecs have been eliminated.

#2 Mississippi State Bulldogs (38-22) 3, #4 Jackson State Tigers (32-23) 1

This game was a pitchers duel, all tied up at 1 after 5 innings, but in the top of the 6th, the Bulldogs were determined to make something change. Jake Vickerson led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Brett Pirtle. Gavin Collins hit an RBI single to bring him home, and advanced to second on the throw to home plate. He then scored two batters later when Cody Brown reached on a fielder's choice. Jonathan Holder pitched the final 5 and 1/3 innings, striking out 9 and only giving up 1 hit, a double to Tilur Smith of the Tigers. Again the Tigers only had 3 hits, and their offense would need to improve for them to have a chance.

Sunday June 1st

#1 Louisiana Lafayette Rajun Cajuns (54-8) 11, #4 Jackson State Tigers (32-24) 1

This game has been dubbed the revenge game for the Rajun Cajuns. Second baseman Jace Conrad was especially impressive, getting 3 hits, 6 RBI's, a double, and a Home Run. Chris Charpentier and Matt Hicks took the mound for the Rajun Cajuns, and gave up 0 earned runs, striking out 9.  The Tiger's bats looked more alive than they had been, but 8 hits simply wasn't enough when the other team scores 11, despite only getting 9 hits.

The Jackson State Tigers have been eliminated.

#1 Louisiana Lafayette Rajun Cajuns (55-8) 14, #2 Mississippi State Bulldogs (39-22) 8

18 hits, 14 runs, 5 walks, 3 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 Home Run for the Rajun Cajuns offense in this game.  The game still wasn't as close as the score indicates, because the Bulldogs scored the last 5 runs in the final 3 innings, when it wasn't even close after they had already gotten into a 11 run deficit.

Monday June 2nd

#1 Louisiana Lafayette Rajun Cajuns (56-8) 5, #2 Mississippi State Bulldogs (39-23) 3

Jace Conrad got things going again for Louisiana Lafayette in the top of the 3rd inning. He singled home the first run of the game in Michael Strentz, and then scored the 2nd on a wild pitch by the first replacement pitcher for the Bulldogs Jacob Lindgren. Blake Trahan scored on another wild pitch by Jacob Lindgren to give them a 3 run edge. Seth Harrison scoring in the 4th for the winning run is hilarious though. He was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a passed ball, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Michael Strentz.

The Louisiana Lafayette Rajun Cajuns eliminate the Mississippi State Bulldogs to adavance to the Super Regionals.

Saturday May 31st

#2 Washington Huskies (39-15-1) 8, #3 Georgia Tech Yellowjackets (36-25) 0

The first two games of the Regional weren't even close, as one team completely dominated the other. Tyler Davis pitched a complete game shutout allowing only 4 hits, 0 walks, and struck out 9. The Huskies broke out scoring 4 in the bottom of the 4th inning to take a 5 run lead, and they never even looked back.

#1 Ole Miss Rebels (41-18) 12, #4 Jacksonville State Gamecocks (36-25) 2

Despite scoring the first run of the game, Jacksonville State never really had a chance against Ole Miss. Rebels first baseman Sikes Orvis had a 2 RBI double to get the 5 run outburst going in the bottom of the first. He added another RBI on a single in the 4th inning. Then he just decided to hit a 2 run Home Run in the bottom of the 6th inning to make it a 9 to 1 game. Chris Ellis struck out 8 in going the complete game for the Rebels, so he deserves a fair share of the credit in this win also.

Sunday June 1st

#3 Georgia Tech Yellowjackets (36-26) 4, #4 Jacksonville State Gamecocks (36-26) 2

This game was all tied up at 1 going into the 9th inning. The Yellowjackets then came out and had left fielder Matt Gonzalez hit a 2 RBI double scoring Mott Hyde and Daniel Spingola. Matt Gonzalez scored on the next pitch when Thomas Smith hit a single to bring him home. The Gamecocks kept fighting though, scoring a run on a fielder's choice in the bottom half of the inning. They still had 2 outs left when that happened, but then Michael Bishop popped up in foul ground near first, and Eddie Mora-Leora flied out to center to end their tournament.

The Jacksonville State Gamecocks have been eliminated.

#1 Ole Miss Rebels (42-18) 2, #2 Washington Huskies (40-15-1) 1

Christian Trent and Aaron Greenwood were great on the mound for the Rebels in this game. They struck out 10 Huskies together and more importantly only gave up 1 run. Designated Hitter J.B. Woodman hit a RBI double in the bottom of the 4th to give the Rebels their first run of the game, scoring third baseman Austin Anderson. Centerfielder Auston Bousfield added a solo Home Run in the bottom of the 5th and they just leaned on their pitcher's arms the rest of the way, trusting them to the win.

#2 Washington Huskies (40-16-1) 4, #3 Georgia Tech Yellowjackets (37-26) 2

Georgia Tech's first 3 batters all got hits, as Matt Gonzalez got 2 more RBI's on a double scoring Daniel Spingola and Mott Hyde. But they only got 2 more hits the rest of the game. The Huskies tied it up in the top of the 3rd inning when Andrew Ely hit a 2 run Home Run to right field. Brian Wolfe and Branden Berry manufactured some runs in the top of the 6th inning to give the Huskies the advanatage needed to win the game. Trevor Dunlap pitched the final 4 innings for the Huskies, striking out 4, walking none, and only allowing 2 hits.

The Georgia Tech Yellowjackets have been eliminated.

Monday June 2nd

#1 Ole Miss Rebels (43-18) 3, #2 Washington Huskies (41-16-1) 2

These two teams loved playing each other so much that they were tied at 2 going into the top of the 10th inning. Washington had to win in order to force one more game against the Rebels for a chance to advance, but the Rebels had other plans. Catcher Will Allen walked on a 3-1 count, probably not given the green light in a tie game with 2 outs. The next batter to the plate was no one other than First baseman Sikes Orvis, who had 6 RBI's in game 1. All he did was send a game winning triple down the right field line to win the game for the Rebels, and get them to the second weekend of the tournament.

The Ole Miss Rebels eliminate the Washington Huskies to advance to the Super Regionals.

Friday May 30th

#2 Maryland Terrapins (36-21) 4, #3 Old Dominion Monarchs (36-24) 3

The Terps almost started this tournament off with a loss instead of a win. They were down 3 going into the bottom of the 8th inning. LaMonte Wade scored a run on a difficult double play, but that was the only one that inning. But then they loaded the bases in the bottom of the 9th inning as well. Charlie White hit a single to score Kyle Convissar, who had earlier doubled, but the game tying run, scored by Kevin Martir, and the game winning run, scored by Charlie White, both scored on hit by pitches thrown by Brad Gero, when the bases were loaded. One of the strangest endings of the opening round for certain, a back to back hit by pitch for a walkoff win.

#1 South Carolina Gamecocks (42-16) 5, #4 Campbell Fighting Camels (40-19) 2

The Gamecocks started the game by going single by shortstop Marcus Mooney, single by designated hitter Max Schrock, walk by third baseman Joey Pankake, single by first baseman Kyle Martin, followed by 3 straight outs. That was a 3 run lead that they would not surrender to the Fighting Camels. Jordan Montgomery pitched 8 innings, had 9 strikeouts, and allowed 0 walks, 5 hits, and only 2 earned runs to earn the victory. This was one game that was over very early.

Saturday May 31st

#4 Campbell Fighting Camels (40-20) 4, #3 Old Dominion Monarchs (36-25) 1

The Camels and Monarchs played a fierce second game. They both only had 1 run each going into the 12th inning. The Camels put together a large group of walks and singles to get runners on and were helped to score 3 runs that inning on an error as well. Ryan Thompson pitched the final 5 innings for the Fighting Camels, using only 62 pitches, allowing 1 hit and 1 walk, striking out 5. He is the MVP of this game.

The Old Dominion Monarchs have been eliminated

#2 Maryland Terrapins (37-21) 4, #1 South Carolina Gamecocks (43-16) 3

Maryland decided to start the scoring earlier this time, getting all 4 of their runs in the first two innings. 2 of those runs were unearned though, as Lowe reached base on a throwing error by Gamecocks third baseman Joey Pankake and LaMonte Wade and Charlie White both came home. Mike Shawaryn got the win for the Terps, going 6 and 1/3 innings, and only allowing the 3 runs.

Sunday June 1st

#1 South Carolina Gamecocks (43-17) 9, #4 Campbell Fighting Camels (41-20) 0

Wil Crowe is the man with the plan for a complete game shutout of the Fighting Camels, only allowing 4 hits and no walks in the game. South Carolina had complete control of the game scoring 4 runs in both the 4th and 9th innings. The offense was really balanced, but if forced to choose a best offensive player, it would have been designated hitter Max Schrock. He had 2 doubles, 2 RBI's and 1 run, and they only gave him two at bats.

The Campbell Fighting Camels have been eliminated.

#2 Maryland Terrapins (38-21) 10, #1 South Carolina Gamecocks (44-17) 1

First baseman Kyle Martin brought home Marcus Mooney again in the bottom of the first inning, but that would be the only run for the Gamecocks in their 2nd game of the day. The Terrapins were behind, but stayed balance scoring in each of the 4th through 7th innings. Adding 4 more in the top of the 9th was just the icing on the cake for those oversized turtles. But South Carolina getting eliminated really is a shock. They won the tournament in 2010 and 2011, finishing 2nd as a runner up in 2012. So their elimination is a relief to everyone in the tournament.

The Maryland Terrapins eliminate the South Carolina Gamecocks to advance to the Super Regionals.

Friday May 30th

#2 Arkansas Razorbacks (38-23) 3, #3 Liberty Flames (41-16) 2

The Razorbacks were the second to get on the board, but did so in the bottom of the 2nd by a Home Run by second baseman Brian Anderson. He also had another RBI in the bottom of the 4th, as did third baseman Bobby Wernes. That gave the Hogs a 3 to 1 lead and they never lost control. Michael Gunn and Jacob Stone pitched 4 innings in relief and only gave up 1 hit. That is impressive and how a team holds onto their lead.

#1 Virginia Cavaliers (44-13) 10, #4 Bucknell Bison (30-19-1) 1

The Bison were holding tough, keep the Cavaliers from decimating them until the bottom of the 6th arrived. Before that though, the Cavs had scored 3 runs already, but still, the game could have been managable for Bucknell. Then Virginia brough 12 batters up to the plate in that half inning, getting 7 runs to cross the plate, and all of that without an extra base hit. Artie Lewicki was flawless through 7 innings, not giving up a single run while striking out 5.

Saturday May 31st

#4 Bucknell Bison (30-20-1) 5, #3 Liberty Flames (41-17) 2

The Flames scored 2 in the top of the first, Perritt scored on a sacrifice fly by Seiz, and Close hit a Home Run to left field, but they never saw the lead at the plate again. The Bison took advanatage of a few errors and scored 3 runs in the first, and another 2 in the bottom of the 2nd. Dan Weigel pitched the complete game for them with no walks, 2 earned runs, only 4 hits, and 6 strikeouts. He was the real reason they stayed alive for another day.

The Liberty Flames have been eliminated.

#1 Virginia Cavaliers (45-13) 3, #2 Arkansas Razorbacks (39-23) 0

Everyone tip your hats to Virginia's starting pitcher, Nathan Kirby. He pitched for 8 innings and only allowed 1 hit and 2 walks, during which he was highly efficient, throwing only 96 total pitches. First baseman "Big" Mike Papi hit a 2 run Home Run to right field in the bottom of the first, and the game was in control the entire way.

Sunday June 1st

#2 Arkansas Razorbacks (39-24) 10, #4 Bucknell Bison (31-20-1) 0

Arkansas took the page right out of Virginia's playbook from the previous day. Jalen Beeks and Jackson Lowery combined for 9 innings, 3 hits, 4 walks, and 14 strikeouts. The Bison simply didn't have a chance with 3 hits for an entire game. The Razorbacks offense was again balanced and had 2 doubles and a triple.

The Bucknell Bison have been eliminated.

#1 Virginia Cavaliers (46-13) 9, #2 Arkansas Razorbacks (40-24) 2
