Johnny Cueto comes at a high price and teams know that, but the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays seem ready to deal for the right-handed ace of the Cincinnati Reds

Those teams sent scouts to watch Cueto toss a two-hit shutout against the Washington Nationals, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Also, Jim Bowden of ESPN reported to MLB Network Radio that the Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals have called on Cueto.

Cueto tossed his first shutout of the year against the Nationals on Tuesday, which obviously impressed the scouts. The 29-year-old struck out a season-high 11 hitters. He gave up a leadoff triple to Ian Desmond in the fifth inning, but bounced back with three straight strikeouts to strand the runner.

Cueto is in the final voting for the National League for the All-Star Game. He currently has the lead in his respective league.

"I would love to pitch in the All-Star Game. I want to do it," Cueto said after the game. "It's an All-Star Game in Cincinnati, with my fans in my house with my team."

The ace struggled early in the season but has only gotten better. His worst start came against the Detroit Tigers on June 17th, in which he gave up three runs on three hits and two walks over just 5.1 innings. The power pitcher struck out only four in that outing.

The Reds will be sellers this month, which should get them a beautiful package of young players for Cueto.

Cueto, from the Dominican Republic, has pitched eight seasons for the Reds and has made one All-Star Game. The righty finished second in Cy Young voting for the National League last season, behind Dodgers Clayton Kershaw

Last season, he went 20-9 with a 2.25 ERA over 34 games and 243.2 innings pitched. He led the Majors with 242 strikeouts, 961 batters faced and just 6.2 hits per nine innings.

This season, Cueto is 6-5 with a 2.61 ERA over 16 starts. The ace has thrown 113.2 innings and given up 11 homers. He does not lead in any categories, but his 0.871 WHIP shows his ability to limit hits and walks during the game.
