Two home runs from Jose Bautista were not enough, and the Toronto Blue Jays saw their winning streak end at 11 games as they fell to the New York Mets 4-3 in 11 innings Monday night. A win would have set a new team record for consecutive wins, but the Mets did not allow that to happen on their home field.

Wilmer Flores gets the hero honors thanks to his walk-off single right up the middle to bring home Lucas Duda with the game-winning run. However, Duda played his own role to perfection as he beat the shift and lofted a shallow fly ball to left field that landed safely to score Michael Cuddyer from first and tie the game at 3-3. The infield played Duda to pull, and the outfield played him deep. Duda, though, found the open field. Both hits happened with two outs.

According to Heidi Watney of MLB Network's Quick Pitch, Monday night's match-up was the first between a team with an active 11-game winning streak facing an opponent who had matched that feat earlier in the season since the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants did so in 1998.

Bautista did all he could to help extend the winning streak to 12 games and set a new franchise record. He put the Blue Jays on top right away with a first-inning no-doubt solo home run (12). Then, with his team trailing 2-1 in the ninth, he tied it with another shot to left (13). This one was not as obvious, but it snuck over the wall in the corner to tie the game.

The Mets took that 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth. Juan Legaras and Ruben Tejada hit back-to-back RBI doubles with one out. Kevin Plawecki had reached on an error and scored on Legaras's double, and Tejada drove home Lagares.

In the top of the 11th, Blue Jays catcher Dinoer Navarro hit a sacrifice fly to score Ezequiel Carrera and give his team a 3-2 lead.

Hansel Robles (W: 1-1, 5.62) benefitted from the 11th-inning rally to pick up the win. He pitched two innings, allowing one earned run (Navarro's sacrifice fly) on one hit. Mets starter Noah Syndergaard pitched up to expectations against his former organization: 6 IP, 1 ER (Bautista's first home run), 2 H, 2 BB, and 11 K.

Brett Cecil (BS, 2; L: 1-3, 3.86) allowed the 11th-inning rally for the loss. He gave up two earned runs on one hit in 2/3 of an inning. Blue Jays starter Mark Buehrle was terrific in his own right: 7 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 5 K. Jeurys Familia served up Bautista's ninth-inning home run to blow the save (2).

The series continues Tuesday night with Scott Copeland (1-0, 0.90) on the mound for Toronto facing New York's Matt Harvey. (6-4, 3.62). The game begins at 7:10 p.m. EDT.
