The Seattle Mariners played host to the Oakland Athletics at Safeco Field in Seattle, WA, Friday night and pulled out a walk-off win in 11 innings by a score of 4-3. After getting walked off in the final two games of their series in Anaheim, the Mariners said, "it's our turn now."

Seattle got a better outing tonight from youngster Taijuan Walker, who gave up three earned runs on five hits while striking out six in the process. After some disappointing outings to start the season for Walker, this, hopefully, is a step in the right direction for the touted Mariners starter.

Oakland, on the other hand, had its ace, Sonny Gray, on the bump, and the team received a good outing from him as well. Gray lasted six innings, giving up one run on six hits while striking out nine Mariners in the process.

Seattle got on the board first on an RBI single by Logan Morrison in the second. That lead lasted until the third when Billy Butler singled to score Marcus Semien from second.

It stayed that way until Josh Reddick crushed a two-run blast to right-center field in the fifth, which tainted a good outing from Walker. The A's held this lead until their bullpen came on in the seventh inning for starter Gray.

Brad Miller's RBI double cut the lead to 3-2, which was directly followed by a Robinson Cano RBI double to tie the score at three. The runs were all credited to Evan Scribner, who lasted just two-thirds of an inning.

The A's threatened in the eighth, but Charlie Furbush and Mark Lowe combined to strand Billy Burns, who was hit by a pitch by Furbush, at third base.

Finally, in the eleventh inning, Morrison, who was 2 for 5 on the night with 2 RBI, wasted no time as he crushed the first pitch he saw from Dan Otero into the Seattle night to walk off the A's. The Mariners needed a game like this to boost their morale a little bit after some tough games down in Anaheim.

The Mariners grabbed Game 1 of the series, and it continues Saturday at 6:10 pm PST when Seattle sends J.A. Happ to the mound to face off against Jesse Hahn for Oakland.
