Joe Kelly held the New York Yankees to one hit over seven innings, and Dustin Pedroia and Daniel Nava each drove in two runs as the Boston Red Sox defeated their arch rivals 8-4 Saturday afternoon in the Bronx. Brock Holt was 4 for 5 and drove in three.

In his seven innings of work, Kelly (W: 1-0, 1.29 ERA) allowed only a single to Alex Rodriguez to lead off the bottom of the second. Rodriguez later scored the Yankees' first run on a one-out sacrifice fly from shortstop Didi Gregorius. That run temporarily tied the game. The Yankees, though, did not get another base runner until they had two outs in the eighth inning.

Kelly walked two and struck out eight on the afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox got a single run in the top of the second when Nava chased home Mike Napoli with a run-scoring double. Napoli led off the inning reaching on an error when first baseman Rodriguez dropped the throw from Gregorius, who fielded Napoli's grounder. Rodriguez made his debut at first base and could not handle the throw.

In the fourth, Nava singled home Pablo Sandoval to put Boston back up by one.

Boston added three more in the seventh. Ryan Hanigan's ground ball scored Xander Bogaerts. Two batters later, Pedroia drove a two-run double to center to score Hanigan and Holt.

Adam Warren (L: 0-1, 1.69) started and had a solid outing, but he could not get run support. He lasted 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs -- one earned -- on five hits. He walked two and struck out one.

Yankees reliever Matt Tracy made his Major League debut in the eighth. With two outs, a second Rodriguez error led to a single and a walk next. The initial call on the error was out, but replay challenge showed that Rodriguez pulled his foot off the bag early, which extended the inning. Holt then doubled to right off Garret Jones's glove for his fourth hit. Three runs, all unearned, scored on the play. Tracy allowed two hits in two innings.

New York got a three-run blast from Chris Young (1) in the bottom of the eighth off Alexi Ogando, who relieved Kelly. However, the Yankees could pull no closer.

The series will end Sunday evening. The Red Sox will look for the sweep as they send Clay Buchholz (1-0, 0.00) to the mound to oppose New York's Masahiro Tanaka (0-1, 9.00). This game is ESPN's Sunday night game of the week and will start at 8:05 p.m. EDT.
