The Arizona Diamondbacks brought out the bats tonight as they got their first win of the season tonight beating the San Francisco Giants, 7-6 at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ.

Neither starting pitcher had a night to remember as Ryan Vogelsong (L, 0-1) went 4 2/3 innings for the Giants giving up six hits, seven runs, while walking four and striking out five. Rubby De La Rosa (W, 1-0) had a similar night to Vogelsong as De La Rosa went 5 1/3 innings giving up six runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out 5. Both starters gave up two home runs each.

All of the scoring happened in the first six innings and it got started in the first inning by a two-run home run by Buster Posey to left field. Posey had a great game splitting time at first and catching, but at the plate is where he really shined going 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs and a walk.

Brandon Belt had a RBI single in the fourth inning, but later on he exited the game while chasing after a foul popup. He started running back after it but pulled up and went down to the ground in pain. It was later revealed that he exited the game with a strained groin. A timetable has not been set on his return.

The Diamondbacks really had the bats going tonight as David Peralta and Jake Lamb led them as they combined for seven RBIs. Peralta put the D’Backs in the lead on a three-run shot to right-center in the third. Arizona had two three-run innings in the 3rd and the 6th.

Lamb on the other hand is driving in runs at a rabid pace. In the second inning he opened the scoring for Arizona on an RBI groundout and then in the fifth he crushed a three-run homer to right-center to put his side up 7-4. The rookie third basemen finished the night with four RBIs and now has seven on the season, which is the most ever in the first two games by a Diamondbacks player.

The Giants spread out their scoring as they tried to claw back in the 6th innings with a two-run home run by Brandon Crawford to cut the deficit to one at 7-6.

Once the bullpens came into the game for both sides, the scoring stopped as each team struggled to get on base in the late innings. Addison Reed came on in the ninth inning to get the save and he shut the door as the D’Backs handed the World Champion Giants their first loss of the 2015 campaign.

The series is all tied up as the rubber game is tomorrow at 6:40 PST at Chase Field, as Jeremy Hellickson will make his Arizona debut on the hill while Chris Heston will toe the slab for the Giants.
