Tyler Wilson pitched four shutout innings in his first-ever Spring Training start, and he got plenty of offensive support in the Baltimore Orioles' 10-2 victory over the New York Yankees Saturday.

Wilson (W: 1-0, 0.64) allowed only a single to Carlos Beltran in his four innings of work. He walked none and struck out two. He has made one start and five relief appearances, totaling one earned run and ten hits in fourteen total innings. He has a WHIP of 0.79.

The Baltimore Sun's Edwardo Encina says that Wilson will head to the Orioles' Minor League camp and prepare to begin the season with Triple-A Norfolk. Encina adds that Wilson, the organization's Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2014, could find himself spot starting for Baltimore later this season and strongly compete for a rotation spot next year. His first appearance will be his Major League debut.

Baltimore got home runs from Alejandro De Aza (2) and Jimmy Paredes (2). De Aza's was a three-run shot off Scott Baker that capped a five-run Orioles third inning. Paredes hit a solo shot in the top of the ninth, but by then, the game was well out of hand.

Ryan Flaherty (sacrifice fly in the second), Jonathan Schoop (single in the second, two-run double in the eighth), Steve Clevenger (sacrifice fly in the third), and De Aza (sacrifice fly in the sixth) drove in the other six runs for Baltimore.

The Yankees got solo home runs from Stephen Drew (2) in the fifth inning and Alex Rodriguez (3) in the seventh. After a very slow start to the spring, Drew is now hitting .244. Rodriguez, who was 1 for 3 Saturday, is hitting .306 with 3 HR and 4 RBI.

Baker (L: 0-1, 7.84 ERA) is competing for a roster spot, but Saturday's performance will not help his cause. Baker allowed all five second-inning runs and did not see the third inning. He allowed five hits, walked none, and struck out three.

Spring Training enters its final week Sunday. The Orioles will use split squads with one hosting the Minnesota Twins and the other visiting the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Yankees visit the Houston Astros, and Yankees beat writer Bryan Hoch reports that Rodriguez will play five innings at first base. Hoch quoted Rodriguez discussing his new opportunity:

"I'm thinking of first base to give Joe [Girardi] as many options as he could possibly have. I know he likes to give guys rest. I know he likes matchups. I just want to be an asset to Joe all year.
