The Minnesota Twins will hire Minnesota native Paul Molitor as their next manager on Monday, according to Patrick Reusse of 1500 ESPN. The Twins also interviewed fan favorite Doug Mientkiewicz as a potential candidate. Mientkiewicz, who managed the Twins single A affiliate in Fort Myers this year, was seen as a outside shot to get the job, while Red sox bench coach Torey Lovullo was also interviewed.

Joe Maddon, who opted out of his contract with the Tampa Bay Rays a week ago, was contacted by the Twins early this week but all indications are Maddon was headed for the Chicago Cubs the entire time. Maddon will be named the Cubs manager on Monday.

Molitor played for Milwaukee for 14 years, played 3 years for Toronto, winning a world series in 1993 with the Blue Jays, before finishing his career with Minnesota.
