What was already a bad season for the Texas Rangers has just gotten worse. The Rangers' ace Yu Darvish has landed on the 15-day disabled list. Darvish felt tightness in his elbow on Monday while playing a game of catch, and is expected to undergo more testing on his elbow within the next 24 hours.

Rangers' general manager Jon Daniels said an examination of Darvish's elbow showed no sign of ligament damage, but Darvish will still undergo a MRI on Thursday. Daniels also added that Darvish is expected to miss two starts.

"We're going to get a MRI to be certain," Daniels said prior to the Rangers game against the Tampa Bay Rays. "I think Yu had expressed he could pitch if we're in a different spot, a meaningful game tomorrow, Yu would be a game to go. But we all agreed, he agreed , we all agreed , it's better to be cautious. We're hoping it's a two start DL."

Darvish was in the midst of another stellar season. This season Darvish has a 3.06 ERA and 182 strikeouts in 144 innings on the season. Robbie Ross will take Darvish's spot in the rotation for right now. Also left-handed pitcher Alex Claudio has been called up to replace him in the roster.
