The Boston Red Sox have made another deadline deal. MLB.com's Joey Mowack reports that the Red Sox have traded starter John Lackey to the St. Louis Cardinals for outfielder/first baseman Allen Craig and starter Joe Kelly. In addition, the Cardinals receive Minor-league pitcher Corey Littrell along with cash considerations.

The move follows one of the biggest moves of the trade season that occurred earlier on Thursday when the Red Sox traded their ace, Jon Lester, and outfielder Jonny Gomes to Oakland for outfielder Yoeins Cespedes. On Wednesday night, Boston also traded lefty Felix Doubront to the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named later.

Lackey was 11-7 with a 3.60 ERA and 1.23 WHIP for the Red Sox.

Kelly was 2-2 with a 4.37 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in seven starts for the Cardinals after spending most of the season on the disabled list with hamstring problems suffered while running the bases in April. Craig is having a down year so far, hitting just .237 with 7 HR and 44 RBI in 97 games after a .313, 13 HR, and 97 RBI 2013.
