The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the reeling San Diego Padres 2-1 Friday night, behind a fantastic outing from Brandon McCarthy.

McCarthy earned just his second win of the season, and ironically his second win against the Padres in Petco Park this season. He got through seven innings of work, allowing just one run on six hits and seven strikeouts. The win increased McCarthy's trade value, who is one of many players the Diamondbacks are shopping heavily. The only run McCarthy allowed was driven in by his counterpart Tyson Ross, who hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.

The D-backs scored two in the fourth on a David Peralta two run single. That was all Tyson Ross gave up in a losing effort.

Addison Reed looked his old self while recording save 18 on the year. Reed threw numerous sliders with pinpoint control, something D-backs fans haven't seen yet.

The D-backs play the Padres again on Saturday, as a pair of soft tossing starters will face off, as Josh Collmenter and Eric Stults each take the mound.
