Alex Wood has been with the Atlanta Braves off and on it seems for the past year or so. He's had many roles, he has been a starter and also a set up guy in the bullpen. Wherever you put him it's safe to say he's going to produce great numbers for you and do exactly what you want him to do.

It seems like Wood is set to be a starter with the Braves for many years to come. Having a funky lefty is always a great thing since it shows the opposing team something different. No one can duplicate the way Wood throws the ball towards home. It's weird and some say it's just destined to hurt his arm in the future. If it works for him it shouldn't be fixed or worked on any.

Wood is set to return to the rotation yet again due to an injury to Gavin Floyd. Floyd has been a excellent surprise for the Braves this year. He's had a handful of quality starts and not that many bad starts. Floyd was a risk heading into the season since he did just come off of Tommy John surgery which is something the Braves are way too used to.

The Tommy John surgery could have been a factor in what happened to Floyd a few nights ago. On a curveball to Jayson Werth of the Washington Nationals, Floyd fractured his cranon or in more simpler terms his elbow. It was really a shock to see the swelling come up so quickly, after Floyd flexed his arm about a golf ball size knot was on the very end of his elbow. It was later announced that it was indeed a fracture and he was immediately placed on the DL.

Ryan Buchter was called up to replace Floyd on the 25-man roster but Alex Wood is set to start for Floyd in a few days. There is no timetable on the return of Floyd but they should be alright with Alex Wood in the rotation yet again. If he keeps maturing at a fast pace he could lock himself up a few Cy Young awards in the very near future.
