The Arizona Diamondbacks were unable to build on the momentum they developed from their walkoff win Wednesday night, dropping the series deciding game 4-1 to the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday afternoon.

Yovani Gallardo revoked any sort of momentum the D-backs had developed Wednesday, limiting Arizona to just one run and five hits over seven innings of work, in what was his fifth win of the year. Didi Gregorious' RBI groundout in the fifth inning was all the D-backs managed off Gallardo and the Brewers.

Chase Anderson was solid for the D-backs, pitching six strong innings, allowing three runs --two earned-- on five hits. Any more run support, and we may have seen Anderson pitch deeper into the ballgame. The Brewers got to Anderson in the fifth inning, scoring two runs on a Lyle Overbay RBI double and a Elian Herrera RBI single. Aramis Ramirez made it a 3-1 game with his RBI single in the sixth.

Carlos Gomez added a insurance run in the eighth inning with his RBI single.

The D-backs look to feast on a struggling San Francisco Giants ball club, who have lost five straight games and 8 of their last 9 overall. It's an unfavorable series opening matchup for the Giants, as Tim Lincecum will try to tame Paul Goldschmidt, his nightmare counterpart. Josh Collmenter will take the mound for the D-backs. Collmenter is in a somewhat similar situation as Lincecum. Buster Posey is 6 for 8 against Collmenter with two home runs and seven RBI's.
