Sloppy defense and lack of hustle costs the Los Angeles Dodgers a win and a sweep, but boosted the Arizona Diamondbacks just enough to salvage a 6-3 win Sunday afternoon.

Bronson Arroyo fought through agonizing elbow pain to still pitch five innings of one run baseball to earn his seventh win of the season. Arroyo had to work with depleted velocity, only throwing his fastball in the low 80's rather than mid to upper 80's. Arroyo will have his elbow examined Monday in Phoenix, only to likely find himself on the disabled list for the first time in his career. Bronson Arroyo has never missed a start in his career.

Paul Goldschmidt put the D-backs ahead early, jacking his 15th home run of the year in the first inning off Josh Beckett. The Dodgers tied the game in the bottom of the second on a Jamie Romak RBI groundout. A Josh Beckett wild pitch in the fifth inning allowed David Peralta to score from third and give the Diamondbacks a 2-1 lead.

The Dodgers fell apart defensively in the seventh inning. Miguel Montero reached safely after Adrian Gonzalez went too far from the bag while Josh Beckett failed to cover first base, leaving Dee Gordon no one to throw it too. Aaron Hill followed with a single to left field. Matt Kemp waited for the ball to roll to him, allowing Montero to advance to third and Hill to second. Then with the infield in, Martin Prado's ground ball went under Dee Gordon's glove that scored both Montero and Hill.

Los Angeles would get a run back in the bottom half on a Justin Turner RBI double off Oliver Perez to make it 4-2. Miguel Montero iced the game in the ninth inning, with a two run homer off Chris Perez. The Dodgers didn't go down easily in the bottom half, managing to score a run off Addison Reed on a Hanley Ramirez RBI double.

The D-backs come back home to Phoenix to start a nine game home stand, starting with four against the Milwaukee Brewers. The series opener will feature a pitching matchup of Brandon McCarthy and Wily Peralta.
