Bronson Arroyo toyed with a young Houston Astros team and allowed just one earned run throughout seven innings to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 4-1 win as well as a series split.

Paul Goldschmidt woke up the meek crowd of 17,667 in the first inning with a loud home run into the pool in right center field. Brad Peacock settled down to silence the D-backs for the next five innings. He finished the day with a no decision after allowing just three hits and three walks.

Matt Dominguez' RBI single in the sixth inning was the only run they managed against Bronson Arroyo and in the game.

The D-backs took advantage of Brad Peacock's exit from the ballgame, scoring two runs in the seventh off Astros reliever Josh Fields. Martin Prado lead off the inning with a fantastic ten pitch at bat that lead to a leadoff triple. Which allowed Aaron Hill to bring him home on a sacrifice fly to take a 2-1 lead. Ender Inciarte reached on a fielding error by shortstop Jonathan Villar and was brought home on a pinch hit RBI double off the bat of Cody Ross. The D-backs added one more in the eighth inning on a Aaron Hill RBI double to make it 4-1.

Although it was technically a two game series, the D-backs will head to Houston to play two more games against the Astros. Dallas Keuchel will look to change his fortunes against Arizona, after posting a 7.20 ERA and a 0-2 record in two starts. Brandon McCarthy will start for the D-backs to try and add a win to his league worst 1-8 record.
