Offense, offense, and more offense was the case Wednesday night at Coors Field, as the Arizona Diamondbacks doubled up the Colorado Rockies 16-8.

The D-backs wasted no time, scoring three runs in the first inning. Didi Gregorious, fresh out of Reno, lead the game off with a deep home run to right center field. Later in the inning, Miguel Montero hit a RBI sacrifice fly and Martin Prado scored on a wild pitch to put Arizona up 3-0. Prado would make it 4-0 in the third inning with a RBI single.

Jordan Lyles was unable to stop his streak of three consecutive bad starts and instead added another to the board. Lyles lasted just four innings, allowing four runs --two earned-- on seven hits and a walk.

The Rockies offense did show up in the fifth inning, striking for four runs on a Troy Tulowitzki three run double and a Michael Cuddyer RBI single to tie the game. The big inning knocked Josh Collmenter from game, shortening his outing to just five innings despite a relatively low pitch count. He allowed the four earned runs on nine hits and two walks.

The D-backs took back the lead in the seventh inning on a Miguel Montero RBI single, only to surrender the lead in the bottom half. DJ LeMahieu hit a RBI single to shortstop Chris Owings, and Owings threw it away on a attempted force out at second base to allow Wilin Rosario to score. Drew Stubbs added two more on a two RBI single to make it 8-5.

The Diamondbacks erupted for a six run eighth inning and a five run ninth inning to blow the game open at 16-8. Chris Owings started the eighth inning scoring with a RBI single. Gerardo Parra walked to bring in a run and was brought home on three run double off the bat of Paul Goldschmidt. Miguel Montero finished off the six run inning with a RBI sacrifice fly. As for the ninth inning, Gerardo Parra started the scoring with a RBI double, to be followed with a RBI single from Paul Goldschmidt. Miguel Montero put the exclamation point on the game, with a three run homer that gave him six RBI's on the night.

Bronson Arroyo and Juan Nicasio will face off in the series finale Thursday night, as the D-backs go for the three game sweep.
