Johnny Cueto shut down the D-backs offense for what was his fifth win of the season, as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 Saturday night.

Cueto was lights out during his 7.1 innings of shutout baseball, only allowing five hits and striking out seven.

Brandon McCarthy was bitten by the big inning once again, as the Reds struck for three runs in the fourth inning and two in the fifth. Billy Hamilton led off the fourth with a base hit to left center field, that was followed with a Skip Schumaker single and RBI singles from Brandon Phillips and Todd Frazier. Brayan Pena capped the inning with a RBI double.

Billy Hamilton again led off the fifth inning with a bunt single and then stole second. Skip Schumaker brought him in with a RBI single and Brandon Phillips brought him in with a RBI double.

As if losing the game wasn't bad enough, the Diamondbacks lost their blossoming center fielder A.J. Pollock for an indefinite amount of time, after Johnny Cueto drilled him on his right knuckle during his at bat in the eighth inning. Cueto had been missing high and inside all night, forcing multiple D-back hitters to twist out of the batters box.

The Diamondbacks look to manage a series split on Sunday, as they send Wade Miley out to the mound to face Alfredo Simon.
