The offense and momentum the Diamondbacks developed in their last series stayed in Arizona, as they were one hit by Adam Wainwright in a 5-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Wainwright was nearly perfect in what was his seventh win of the season, only allowing a fourth inning double to Paul Goldschmidt while striking out nine in a complete game effort.

Things didn't go so smoothly for Bronson Arroyo, as he allowed five earned runs on nine hits through his seven innings of work. Matt Adams got the offense started in the first inning with a two run homer to center field. Jhonny Peralta's RBI double in the fourth and Matt Holliday's RBI single in the fifth made it 4-0. Peralta would finish off the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth.

The D-backs will look to find their offense on Wednesday as they face Michael Wacha, who they tagged for six runs in their only meeting last season. Brandon McCarthy, coming off his best start of the year against the Nationals, looks to slow the Cardinals offense and get his second win of the season.
