The White Sox have fallen behind in the chase for the AL Central this month, with the Detroit Tigers winning 11 and only losing 3 in the month of May.  In the same time span the White Sox have now won 7 and lost 7.  They were able to win, 7-2, last night against the Houston Astros, and here are the top 3 players from last nights game.

Jose Quintana (Starting Pitcher)

The Chicago White Sox have been struggling with pitching right now with Chris Sale on the Disabled List and Quintana gave them a good start last night, going 5 innings deep and only giving up 2 earned runs.  Yes, he struggled giving up 7 hits and 2 walks, only having 5 strikeouts, but he kept even more runs from scoring, so it was a big success all things considered.

Adam Dunn (First Base)

Adam Dunn was able to give the White Sox their first lead of the game last night.  Hitting a 3 run Home Run in the 6th inning to put them ahead 4-2.  It is his sixth home run of the season, and since he is a typical 3 outcome player, he should be getting more soon.  Also, he had 3 Runs Batted In, putting his total to 15 on the season.

Conor Gilaspie (Third Base)

Conor had a great all around night last night, putting up 2 hits, 1 walk, and 1 run.  His biggest hit came in the 8th inning when he hit a 2 out, 2 run, double.  Those two Runs Batted In bring his total to 15 on the year as well, and he is currently leading the team in batting average and on base percentage for the season.

In closing, the White Sox need to take advantage of this series with the Astros and get some more wins.  Before the season, they were not projected to perform very well.  But with Chris Sale coming back from injury soon (11 strikeouts in minor leagues yesterday), and the surprising performance from Jose Abreu, the White Sox are a team that could rise the second half of the season.
