The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to slowly turn their season around as they won their third straight game Saturday evening, defeating the San Diego Padres 4-3.

Great starting pitching continues to be the key to the D-backs success as Brandon McCarthy continued the trend against the Padres on Saturday. McCarthy lit up the radar gun once again, consistently hitting 95 miles per hour and at times 96. He would shutout the Padres for the seven innings he would pitch, only allowing three hits while striking out six and walking one. Ian Kennedy would be knocked around by his former team, lasting five innings allowing three earned runs on 11 hits, seven strikeouts and one walk.

The D-backs would jump on their former teammate Ian Kennedy quickly as they would score two runs in the second inning. Miguel Montero would continue his hot hitting as he would homer to deep right center field. Chris Owings would double a batter later and be brought in to score off a Alfredo Marte double, putting the D-backs up 2-0.

Arizona would score again in the fifth inning as Chris Owings would hit a RBI single that would score Miguel Montero. The fifth inning was a interesting one for San Diego's center fielder Cameron Maybin. Maybin would rob Paul Goldschmidt of a home run to start the inning, but would allow Aaron Hill to reach on a base hit after miss reading a fly ball. The same thing would happen in the seventh inning. Aaron Hill would be walked and Maybin would miss read a fly ball off the bat of Chris Owings allowing him to reach base on a single. The miss play would be crucial for the Padres as Alfredo Marte would hit a RBI single the next at bat.

J.J. Putz would be given the opportunity to lock down the ninth inning but he would falter in doing so. Seth Smith would single on a ground ball to the left side of the infield due to the D-backs playing in a defensive shift. Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal would hit a RBI double immediately after, forcing manager Kirk Gibson to insert closer Addison Reed into the ballgame. Reed would allow a two run home run to Jedd Gyorko to make it a tight game at 4-3. Reed would regroup and secure his eighth save of the season and the eleventh win for the D-backs.

The Diamondbacks and Padres wrap up their three game set on Sunday afternoon with a pitching matchup of Wade Miley and Tyson Ross. Miley and Ross both look to improve on shaky starts their last outings.
